It can seize up anytime during firing. Not worth the risk to me. I would not use it in anything other than an AK. Just my opinion.

One more point for glock is that they are super easy to break down and clean.

I’ve fired less than 100 of it so maybe since I know this I will stop. Thanks for info I thought it would take a lot of time but there’s no sense in risking my gun over ammo

That was what they told me when I purchased the hellcat. I also bought one for my dad. He shot some steel cased and had a slight jam once or twice over 100 rounds. But if you arent having any issues than good!

Thats not bad for 9mm right now. I imagine things will eventually get back to normal.
The ammo shortage in the 9mm arena is getting eat'n up by all these AR9s... i am thinking.
Its like the 223 stockpile mentality.

Seems like a .22lr would be a good first pistol, for fun shooting that is. Not self defense. Cheap to shoot, little recoil and not too loud.

OP got the gun nerds and neck beards up in arms with both of his posts lol.

I think a lot of people missed that the OP lives in Illinois: he's limited to 10 rounds regardless of gun type.

There should be a range near you that will rent guns and let you shoot there. Try a bunch, see what fits. For mild recoil and moderate size, I really like the Bersa Thunder in .380 acp (Walther ppk clones). Get two: one in .22 for practice and one in 380 for carrying. In the end revolvers pointed more naturally and were more enjoyable to shoot to me so I have a Ruger LCR in 357 and a Smith & Wesson Model 10 2" and I'd happily carry either one of those all day.

That's pretty much why I suggested a Sig 232. It's very similar in size to the PPK and very comfortable in the hand.
Hornady Critical Defense, even in .380 will certainly have an effect upon an attacker.

Actually you can go further and say most pistols today. The only two I can think of that are a PITA are the Ruger MK II (& III?) .22 pistols and the Walther CCP. I've heard the new CCPs don't require a tool to break it down, so the M2s should be easier than the first generation.

But if you want to "split hairs" on ease of breakdown, the slide release lever on a SIG is easier to manipulate than the striker pistols with two spring loaded slide release buttons. On the SIGs, you just lock the slide back, flip the lever, then move the slide forward...it slides right off. That's found on the hammer fired SIGs (P225,226,228,229, etc).

    1. Go to multiple stores and gets hands on everything and anything available. Test fire as many as you can (if the store/range has rentals or if your buddy has a handgun) and be honest with yourself. If it isn't something you don't enjoy to shoot, you aren't going to train with it...And handguns require the most amount of training/consistency (compared to other platforms) to be effective.

    2. Don't buy cheap shit. AKA don't buy the $100 special at a pawn shop AND don't buy cheap accessories/parts (sights, triggers, springs, mags, holsters, etc). Do your research and save up if you cant afford quality. You're purchasing a tool that your life may depend on...don't buy cheap tools.

    3. Train. Get trained. Keep Training. Train when you don't want to train. Train your weaknesses more than your strengths (one handed, non-dominate side, reloads, distance, low light, etc). Draw more than you dry fire and dry fire more than you live fire. Lastly, put 500rds through the pistol before you carry it and double that in concealment draws.

    4. If you apply the basic fundamentals, the weapon system becomes irrelevant.

    -------------------
    Personal Opinion:
Glock 19, all day and twice on days that end in Y.
They just work. They're accurate, reliable, durable, and will outlast you in any environment.
Put on the sights that you like (I prefer a tritium front sight with blacked out rears) and leave the rest as it comes. You can find used Gen 3's for $300 pretty much anywhere that has sells used pistols. As for an IWB holster, look at the G-Code INCOG and if you want an OWB, look at the Safariland 7TS ALS system. Stick with Glock-band magazines and be aware that you can use Glock 17 mags in it. So for carry use, you can run with the flush fit 15rd mag but keep a 17rd (glock 17) mag as your spare/range mags. OEM parts can be found all over the world and the entire system is user-level maintenance.

    ::End Rant::

Yeah Sigs break down super easy too

The Ruger LC9 requires a tool, and I’m sure several others do, but I don’t remember which right off hand

Generally speaking though, manufacturers realize this is a thing and they’re making them easier these days

1911's are for boomers and kids who grew up watching Brucey Dubya in Last Man Standing... until they actually shoot one. If you're a fan of the 1911 in 2020 because of anything other than nostalgia or a specific comp division, then you're a weirdo who more than likely cant shoot it anyways.* To advocate that a new/inexperienced shooter purchase a 1911 as their first handgun AND conceal carry system is absolutely insane and straight up horrible advice. Same goes for 40cal. Just my opinion...which means nothing unless it upsets you (which means something inside you knows that I'm right lol).

*These statements are backed up by the fact that most people hold pistol groups at 5yds that look like a 00B group at 50yds. #Facts

Lol well that wasn’t very educational, I would say your pistol has a hair trigger ;). I myself wouldn’t recommend a Glock or a 1911 for concealed carry, but some are. The 1911 has it for accuracy over a Glock generally speaking, not usually a factor in close range though. Both good guns.

Hey man, I want a Beretta M9 cause of ‘Ol Brucey in Die Hard! As well as Lethal Weapon and cause they’re generally cool/military history. Although I’d probably get the A3 which is a slight departure from the movie guns and wasn’t picked up by the military. Anyways your hashtags cracked me up. Sorry OP this post was of zero help to you.
