Bottomline trucks dont get great mpg, if you want great mpg buy an electric truck or a hybrid, the best mpg truck was the manual transmission toyota “pickup” truck one could get like 30mpg highway

    Sounds about right.

17-17.5 mpg city and 20-22 mpg hwy, depending what speed im going. MT is not the best for hwy fuel economy. I could squeeze out 25 mpg on hwy, but i will have to go no faster than 60-65. Im quite happy with the fuel economy, considering i am running E rated All terrain tires, will be getting C rated next.

I removed that air dam long time ago too, could not stand it. Made no difference whatsoever in my experience. I was worried about the noise, but its all exactly the same.

Yep, thats the key if you want to get good fuel mileage with the MT on the hwy, I did 9.5L /100km one time going like 95-100 km/hr. Stock tune and e load ATs.

Some have, but it’s only about 1mpg at best lost at highway speeds, and most people don’t track their mileage and driving habits carefully enough to notice. Like you said, if you change several variables it’s harder to isolate the meaningful difference.

Edit: OP, there are tons of threads on this. Look around a bit since you are new here. Google “tacomaworld” mpg threads with “third gen” and you’ll learn a bunch. Track your tanks with fuelly. Your MPGs aren’t too off from most people’s with the same setup that use the truck the way you do.

I have a 2020 TRD off road bought in January. I have never got under 19 miles per gallon on a tank, I once even had it over 25 on a 4 hour20200530_154425.jpg round trip driving about 60mph.

Haha I am a lot of things but gentleman is a seemingly unattainable summit for me.
Apparantly the title of romantic evades me as well as my wife reminds (of 37 years) me of time to time. Yet she keeps me around because I am logical. I think.

How many miles are on the truck? My mpg improved dramatically after the first 5k miles. I get 25mpg highway all the time on stock 2018 OR.

Don't tell anyone, but I'm really a professional mountain biker, banjo player, woodworker and farmer. The engineering gig just keeps me afloat until the next race, gig, table and crop of beans and tomatoes.

Fill mine up every 220 miles or so, 16 gallons of non ethanol supreme

Have no idea what kind of mileage my truck is supposed to get

But that's the mileage I get driving like I want

Enjoy your truck OP and let the mileage thing drift

I have a fibergless shell, siders, full skids
I get between 17 and 21 depending on conditions
OP should be getting better mpg

I also like to keep the blue mpg status bar up sometimes to see how my driving style affects it

I’ve noticed that the computer can be off a bit, so I would do the math yourself and see if it’s any better. I also started turning the vent to something other than defrost or A/C. I used to leave it on defrost almost all the time, once I stopped I noticed an improvement.

    I have a 2017 TRD Pro and I didn't start getting 20mpg until like 20,000 miles. I usually get 17-20 and I drive 80mph on the freeway or 75.

I was driving home from Daytona yesterday. Was going 85 MPH and checked my mileage, it read 19.7 MPG.

Access cab V6 auto 4x4. Toyo 265/65-17 AT tires running 36 PSI. I left the air damn on.

Noticeable increase in mileage when I got to around 11,500 miles on it.
