Hey guys! Tried to search this question but couldn’t find an answer.

Brought my 19 Taco into the dealer today for scheduled maintenance (13,500 miles). I did report some weird performance where my truck stuttered and was like someone turned the power off and on like a light switch over and over again while driving. Also was at the bottom of a parking garage heading up the ramp and truck shook like crazy and then turned off.

I was thinking it might be that TSB about weird performance but the service guy came and told me they were worried it was the fuel pump and they would give me a rental car for a few days while they figure it out Because it’s unsafe. The advisor told me when I first got there that the fuel pump fix would be in September. So I guess I’m confused as to what they’re gonna do if they can’t fix it till September?

Has anyone had this experience and if so, what does the educated consumer do? I have zero mods, lifts, etc. stock four four 4wd

Thanks very much- really appreciate the expertise here, I am clueless about this stuff.

Someone reported that their dealer installed a new "bad" pump under warranty to get them by until the fix gets here. Might check into that. Otherwise it's gonna be a rental til fall.

Drive a dealer loaner car for a couple days and get a free new fuel pump that works all the time.

The corrected fuel pump isn't available yet, supposedly.

Interesting thanks. So is it safe to say that either they put in a new bad pump, or hold onto it until September (or come up with a new working one)? I guess it wouldn’t make sense for me to have it back if they haven’t done anything to remedy the situation. Just seems like a long time to have a rental but it’s on their dime. ‍♂️

The service advisor said currently they are doing sedans and won’t have the Taco fix until September
