TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

pulling plugs with the s/c on was a time consuming PITA. doable yes, just not my choice.

 

i found it way faster and easier to pull the s/c. then you get familiar with the process. s/c removal is very simple.

 

How about one of those "live streams" because taking a video of it would be super weird since there would be no immediate interaction of, I can't see what you are doing because of this camera angle or whatever.

 

The plugs that were installed along with my trd blower have about 35k miles and I would like to swap them out to the Rutheniums.

I would view a live stream of this r&r process since some say its a major PITA....while some say its just meh.

Since Murphy likes to fuk with me at the most unexpected times....i would like to ensure this is more a meh type job.

Out of curiosity, do they make Rutheniums for s/c heat range? I've only seen stock OE heat ranges for ngk ruthenium and denso TT as well

What makes you say garbage? It looks your plugs are showing a little rich by that carbon? How are yours/driving after a month?

 

It's irrelevant at this point. There was a tune issue due to pulley size. It's all been corrected now and I have no desire to do Iridiums again.

 

Anyone have a link for the best source for those fancy Ruthenium plugs?

 

Napa is probably your easiest to find source for them. They can get them same day which to me was a critical deciding factor.

 

If you can wait on shipment, Rock Auto appears to have the best price.

 

Just throwing this out there - TRD Supercharger... about 40k miles.

During summer or hot days and after a long drive from work in traffic and interstate... I will get some seepage of coolant from hoses and heat build-up I assume. Maybe better or preferred clamps everyone is using?

 

x2 on this, was pretty easy to take the SC off, plus I cleaned up the intercooler too

 

im the guy that bought someones factory spring clamps. ive had great luck with them. hose clamps are great too. JUST BUY QUALITY MADE IN AMERICA ONES. if youre using a factory resivoir you could rough up the fitting and use a tiny ammount of rtv. on the resivoir i would reccommend the spring clamps. i have the ability to over tighten and break shit for my reason. slight weepage is not unusual, just ugly.

 

But that gaskets like 100 bucks if you replace it every time you’re in there. May not be fully required, but it’s always a risk
