MPG Repost - You Get Terrible MPG Because

Neighbor across the street just bought a Ridgeline. He’s not happy with me right now.

“I thought you said you were getting a truck.”

“I did. This is my truck.”

“No, that’s not a truck. That’s an SUV with a bed.”

 

I get a solid 13 mpg on the freeway, 11ish in the city these days. My truck is still running stock height, wheels, and tires. Getting maintenance done on wednesday, I'll probably bring it up them.

 

Your mpg is bad because you fools drive 80+mph with your AC cranked to god knows what while blaring Katy perry and nickelback down the highway. Slow it down, no ones gonna miss you any more (if at all) if you arrive precisely 2.5 minutes later. My truck is weighted down with steel bumpers and a roof rack and lifted and I still easily get 18-19mpg because keep it in the 65-70mph range. Fools \end rant

 

LOL, he might as well get used to the jokes as they will happen frequently.

 

I have to admit, my first vehicle was a 2008ish Honda Ridgeline. I liked it at the time, but now I actually hate the fact I owned it because of the reputation. 1st gen had a honda accord frame I think, the 2nd gen is an odyssey with a bed.

 

I like Nickelbaxk and secretly you do too. Admit it.

Most people don't realize that the gas pedal controls how much fuel you give the engine. The more you give it, the more it burns.

I bought my truck to put it to work. I work civil construction, use 4x4 every day, drive 150 miles almost every day and also carry around a heavy toolbox full of things I use every week. I don’t like that I need to fuel up every morning because the damn gas tank only gets me 250 miles per fill up. Why does nobody bring up that the taco has a small gas tank!

My tank average MPG is terrible because...just kidding, I don't complain when it's as low as 13, or celebrate with cake if it's as high as 27. It's fun either way how much or little I step on the gas pedal.

 

My last daily driver was a lifted XJ on 33s, tons of armor, a winch and so on. I actually drove to the dump one time just to weigh it, I think it almost tipped 4K pounds including the roof top tent and awning. I got 13.5 no matter what. My Taco has blue tooth and doesn’t feel like a space shuttle entering the atmosphere at 70 mph. Oh, and I’m saving gas getting getting close to 20 mpg.

I’m happy with my mileage!

 

I spent over forty years in a new car dealership, worked in the Service Dept. and in new car sales. Customers who came in wanting to drive a new Corvette, you could tell who the real customers were pretty quick
Corvette Customers never ask about gas mileage, they are into the performance, handling, reliability and prestige. If they want to go into gas mileage, ride quality, or how the radio sounds. I cut the road test short, and tell them this may not be the vehicle for you. Same with a Tacoma, dependability reliability as a work truck. MPG is a secondary issue . once you except that you will be a happier owner. BTW I own a 72 corvette coupe W 4sp, factory A/C, Pwr steering and brakes. I have had it over 30 years, I have no Idea what kind of gas mileage it gets, and don't care. My Taco probably get 20ish. out on the Road, but again I dont care.

 

I don’t consider any vehicle that isn’t Body on Frame to be a true SUV. Basically the 4Runner, wrangler, and Tahoe/Suburban are the last SUVs on the market, the rest are crossovers, to me at least. Not sure if anyone else views it the same but the Ridgeline just got dropped another Peg.

 

Ridgeline doesn’t get 25% better economy. It’s a disappointing 20mpg average compared to the 3rd Gen’s 18mpg on Fuelly.
