I heard ovtune turned into Vftuner or something like that. Also heard you can make your own tunes now. True? And if so, anyone know how to make the exhaust “pop” or “bang”? Specific fuel maps? I got mbrp dual exhaust on 93 2.0 ovtune. Figure the forums would give me a good start.

I don't think people gonna take this seriously.

If there's a tuner where you can customize the tune yourself then you can make it pop when you let off the gas and when you shift. People do it on the 86 platform. It's not backfiring, something about overrun. Idk too much about it.

The majority of Tacoma owners dont want that though so you arent gonna get much help here probably. You might be able to find some info on the lexus forums but I'm not for sure about it, people run those types of tunes on the 3.5.

Something to do with running rich when letting off the gas. Extras get burnt in the exhaust pipe.

OVTune specifically mentioned that those types of tunes literally destroy the engine

The general knowledge of this is highly inaccurate. There’s a difference between backfire and afterfire/afterburn. Neither of which are really good for an engine/exhaust/intake but an afterfire is what people go for with tunes by essentially upping fuel trim to run rich and is specifically limited to burning in the exhaust. Backfires on the other hand are more specifically fuel ignition while intake valves are open or happen in the intake, mostly from people running bigger cams without tuning.
Afterfires will destroy cats and possibly crack an exhaust manifold or scorch exhaust valves. While backfires are incredibly worse for an engine as a whole.

As mentioned you probably won’t get much help here, if you want to learn more on the tuning side and information on it just head over to a VW or wrx forum lol.

My memory could be off, but I seem to remember that months ago OVTune specifically stopped developing tunes for an entire platform (a certain trim of Camry maybe?) because he was tired of people wanting snap, crackle, and pop type tunes.

When was the last time Toyota offered a manual Camry? I think I've seen a 2nd gen manual Camry.

    Helllooooooo Friday... Er, Tuesday.

You may want to add one of these for added badassery effect. You can set it low enough you would probably get some cool whooshing noises. You may want to add an interfooler for the extra cooling effects. When you’re popping every time you let off the gas, and your bov is whooshing like a superhero, you’ll need the extra cooling for all those unbridled horsepowerz.

You know what would be better than a Rice Crispy tune...

Pour a quart of gear oil in the gas tank. It would be the gas engine equivalent of rolling coal, it would just be white smoke. Instead of being a coal roller, you could be the snow blower. That would be fukin dope bro.

Rig up a spark plug and an extremely rich tune to shoot flames out the exhaust and hang a bunch of black cats on the bumper.
