No. This is not going to happen. As cool as it would be, they're not going to cannibalize Tundra sales.

Also, the future is smaller, turbo-charged motors (see: Ford's EcoTec line of engines), not bigger blocks.

Expect the redesigned Taco to be carrying the dual-VVT-i version of the 1GR-FE that's currently pimping the 4runner. No V8.

Nah, the only V8 i can think of that comes in a midsize is a Dakota (i think) and that thing blows. I bought my Tacoma to get away from a V8.

Agreed. If the new 4Runner had a V8 option, I'd say there's some possibility. But seeing that they dropped that with the redesign, there's no chance of it being in a Taco. Too bad - the new 4.6 would have been a neat option.

Plus the direction the economy is going, sooner or later trucks will only come in a V6 unless you are a contractor and you need a V8.

Fuel economy of the tacoma is already "not that good", I don't want to imagine what a v8 would give.

You heard wrong......we already have a hundred threads on this already.......the answer is NO.
As long as Toyota is selling a bigger truck with a V8 (Tundra), they will not be selling a Tacoma with a V8.

People who buy a truck, any truck, for the purpose of being fast are confused.
