I did use a washer to do this on my upper right bolt. So yes it definitely will work. I would not use anything soft. Just a thicker or multiple washers.

Has anyone successfully hook up a front camera and have it work with the headunit without the Anytime Backup, Front Camera Module or the Taco Garage module?

So this is probably more of a Maestro question than anything. It's pretty clear all audio, calling, controls, etc. still function the same with the Maestro. But the very specific Toyota settings for how the door locks work, auto headlight sensitivity, lock/unlock beeper volume, etc. are NOT retained correct? The only way to set those settings is to make sure they're done with the OEM HU first before replacing right?

No. You'll still be able to change those within in the new headunit.

    Dope. Thanks.

On another note, since Crutchfield doesn't recognize this as 'fitting' they don't seem to offer the discount from buying all the add-ons as a package (about $50 off the extras that is offered on units that 'fit'). Has anybody had any experience still getting that from them? (the HU itself is still out of stock, just planning)

If you don't want to wait, I bought everything from other retailers and managed to have it essentially be the same price. Crutchfield really only gives the heavy discount on the Maestro and TO2 connectors. Ebay sells the same package for a good deal. I posted the links for all the parts here in my information thread. All the minor accessories are only a few bucks cheaper when packaged through Crutchfield.

Yea, I had checked it out but I was thinking about attempting to avoid instant gratification and giving Best Buy my money. I've used Crutchfield a number of times and they are a great company to work with usually.

Appreciate you putting everything together. I think I might just go that route though because I will probably fail the first part.

On yet another note, anybody want to talk me down from getting the newer RR2 Maestro instead? It's only $50 more and feels like a better future proofing option. But the question is does that really matter for something like this...

You will go into settings-OEM settings. Everything is still there. Took me a while to figure out with my first maestro compatible system. Thought I had lost it.

So I have the bypass installed and I disconnected the GPS cable. How do I go about watching video on my headunit? I want to experiment with this and see if this "trick" really works or not.

Yeah, I've hooked up my front camera directly to the Pioneer unit. I can switch to the front camera view from the Pioneer camera "app" on the head unit. Pretty crappy quality, but it works. Might need to look into a better camera.

I have the Maestro RR2, and I wasn't able to set it up to switch on a button press. According to a post on the iDatalink forum, it's due to some missing feature on the NEX, but there should be firmware update in September that will let you switch from the Maestro http://www.12voltdata.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=404&t=20572.

I used the blue/white cable from the Maestro for power to the camera.

Did anyone else spring for the Maestro RR2? The NEX is not detecting the VSS wire on mine. I checked for continuity with a multimeter, so I know that it's not a harness problem, but I can't seem to get it to recognize the wire. I'm wondering if it's a problem with the RR2 (vs the regular RR).

I'm not interested in trying to watch videos while driving, I just want the popups to go away.

You have to set up the browser for YouTube and watch something. Try to drive and see if it stays playing or brings up a screen with a warning. I read that you have to disconnect the pink VSS wire also along with the gps antenna

Darn it. I didn't disconnect the VSS wire. I will disconnect it whenever I get a camera for the front.

I am updating the members. I don't know if someone on here confirmed it or not but I will give my experience so far. With a bypass installed and GPS connection disconnected on the back of the headunit but still have the pink VSS wire still hooked up, I am able to only hear YouTube videos but the video is not displayed. Once I come to a complete stop then the video plays again. The video goes away after I start driving again. My next step is to disconnect the pink VSS wire and try again in the next few days. The attached picture is what displayed on the screen when driving and hearing YouTube video but not ablecto watch.

With both GPS antenna and pink VSS wire connected and bypass installed, this is how it acts for me. So the big test is No VSS or gps antenna with bypass installed. Keep us posted. I’m not pulling mine back out until there is some good history and known screen display errors or not. Thanks
