3mil is standard on most external vac seal bags, think you would be fine. I just use my quart sized bags and then cut them at the seal to take cheese out then reseal them again until they get too short to use then grab another bag. Works for me but no reason the smaller ones would not work for they way you plan on doing it.

To link a word in this BBS site....

First highlight the word you want to link. You can do that by just double clicking on the word or holding down your left mouse button and dragging the cursor across the word you want to link.

Once the word is highlighted go to the menu at the top of the reply box editor and select the chain link icon

    arrow link.jpg

A dialog box will pop up and in it paste the URL you want to link the word to

    link box.jpg

Click insert and that is it you're done. If you find it was the wrong URL that you pasted in then highlight the word again and then click the link to the right of the one you used that has an X on it to remove the link and repeat the process using the correct URL.

If your feeling really froggy you can click the icon all the way to the right which is the BB Code Editor but you probably don't want to go there. Yet

    Sorry, I missed this before..

I and just not a personal fan of the barrel or grill type smokers although there are a TON of people that run them with no problem.

I feel like the vertical smokers allow the heat and smoke to rise naturally while the others are sorta beating the air into submission. I realize that's probably not going to make much sense to anyone but me I'm afraid LOL

THANK YOU!!! ( it's always about the little details! )

Talk about bad timing to order an expensive brisket :bananadead:... Been MIA tending to 2 of our dogs that got bit by a rattlesnake. On their way to recovery now and stress levels reduced. Plus, I managed to exact a small amount of revenge yesterday finally...

this is a great looking smoker. I use a Ugly drum smoker, but this one looks functional and trashy like my UDS.

Should have but my heart was still beating out of my chest. I was in that flowerbed area pulling up plants and roots, looked down and saw it between my boots just chilling. shovel, chop head, chop rattles, toss to the birds out back.

Doggos have residual swelling but are back to running around normal.

I wonder if I could make a decent dedicated smoker from these burn barrels I see for sale.

with a little welding skill or not you can. you have to be sure the barrel was not used for something that wasn't toxic. I bought a new one and burned the paint off the inside with a very hot wood fire. Here is a link to a ugly drum smoker build. there are a million of them on the www.

Be mindful of what was in that barrel before you decided to turn it into a smoker.

That's the rub, no pun intended. I would bet most of the ones I see around here are old oil containers.

No but have had my eye on the Lockhart just waiting on real life reports....

That was my thought too and then someone posted the other day on here that some Walmarts are blowing them out for half price. So off to brickseek https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=961906172

That SKU is for the Lockhart. Changed zip codes for a large radius around me in Mn. Iowa and Wi. Many of the Walmarts don't even have it in stock here. But did find one in Wi. 3 hours away that has it for $550. Recobs target shop is near that Walmart and I could pick up a dozen flats or so of shotgun shells and a couple kegs of gun powder to make the trip worth while. But will likely wait. Besides need those real life reports @rmac010 just saying.... :D

Damn! Glad the dogs are OK, ouch. And glad you got the bastage that bit them.

And I am sure that brisket will be worth it

Last night decided to do some cheddarwurst that had in the fridge. Normally I'd just throw them on the gasser :anonymous: but almost out of propane. What the hell, its not that hard to just smoke them for a couple of hours.

That's the thing to worry about. Including if you see people do them in file cabinets too, I've seen a few of those.
