I'm also ordering a a thread chaser and new bolts because I cross threaded one of the skid plate bolts. I did the brakes on my subby a couple years back, I'm not sure how much harder/easier drum brakes are, but I'm confident in thinking I should in no way be trying to disassemble the rear end. Although if the dealer wants a grand for "preferred service" I do not want to know what they'd charge for rear diff work.

My diff looked the same at about 28k miles and I complained at my local dealer and they replaced the sealed under warranty. Mine did look a bit worse then yours.

Haven't seen it anywhere. I only know what Redline has on their website and what the one rep said in an e-mail that was posted somewhere. Honestly, it's not worth fretting that much over. I've been in these transfer cases the only item of interest is an oil pump and one blocker ring syncromesh unit. As long as you satisfy those items all should be well. IMO, you want something thin that isn't GL-5. The syncro sees some serious action when you do a 2H to 4H shift at speed, but it'll still outlast the truck.

    :hattip: Thanks!

Yeah. It is a strong and simple unit if it weren't for the actuator. The concern is that the Ravenol package had about 1/4 of some of the additives compared to the Toyota stuff. If I wasn't using it as often, it wouldn't bother me to even use the Ravenol again. It is nice having choices.

Although with the 2LM, I am no longer tossing it to 4Hi on at speed on a straight stretch road to get in the exercise. Much less shifting on the fly.
