Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro

I may have overlooked it but did you get your kit installed? If yes, how are you liking it and what size tire/wheel are you running on it.

I’m still eyeing this kit but there is a GB for the Tough Dog let that look good too. Only thing with that kit is the coils are not height adjustable but they do have rebound adjusters for the ride.

 

I have finally started installing the kit! Truck is up on blocks in my backyard... Taking off the stock leaves and shocks was easy, but I’m also replacing the leaf hangers with Archive Garage Hammer hangers. Those eight rivets are a bitch to cut out.

 

Nice and good luck! I’ll be keeping an eye out for your review as well. I won’t be changing out the leaf hangers though.

Question: what’s the purpose for replacing the stock hangers? Just beefier? I see a lot of guys running the BAMF hangers.

 

I had the kit installed about a month. I have been very happy with it. Did the performance coils and leaf pack. The ride is all around smooth. A little more responsive on the freeway, but more stable too. Took it down some heavily pot holed gravel roads and it was a huge improvement over the off road suspension. Still don’t have 1000 miles on it so not much to report. But I’ve driven freeway, washboard and been off roading and been happy with it.

Do you have the adjustment sheet or specs and mind dm-ing me, or posting here? I’m curious to know about the lift heights. I’d like not not max them out, but want my planned 285/70/17s to look good in the wheel well. i might be getting too far ahead of my budget but I like to know things.

 

I don’t have any specs. I’ll have to take measurements later. I did measure a week or so ago and the rear I measured to be 3” over the typical factory height with about 150lbs in the bed (Measured from center of the hub) the front I am having the shop take up another 1”-1.5” after I get over a 1000 miles, right now it is pretty much at standard factory height. Wanted to give everything sometime to settle before I finalize that.
This is my first lift and I didn’t think to measure before I went into the shop. Also didn’t ask for the specs on alignment.

That makes sense and thanks. I’m guessing it can get about 2” like most of the lift kits for the 3rd gens, since they are already 2” higher than 2nd gens. I’ll keep watch for when you update when you increase the lift.

Nothing wrong with that lol. I’ll keep an eye out for your review as well. They seem to get great reviews but just a small base with Tacoma’s. Hopefully I’ll be order a kit before summer is over. Have to finish bathroom remodel first...

Hype? Maybe. The reviews here on TW are good -- I don't think I've come across anyone that was disappointed. I'll let you all know if I'm the first. I'm definitely interested in taming the rear stock jitters that I get on pavement.

Sold the truck 2 years ago... but I still plan on getting them for my Tundra when the time comes, if that helps

 

It does because I’m trying to decide between the foam cell vs the eibach pro kit that a buddy of mine just loves

 

So, some differences between the two are you get a bigger shock, better dampening and adjustable with the FCP. You also get a fully rebuild-able shock, if you decide to stick with them for the long term. With the Eibach pro kit (from what I reading) it is a solid shock with no rebuild capabilities meaning you need to purchase again later on down the road.

It also looks like the piston is smaller in the eibachs... doesn't necessarily mean anything bad, but just another thing to look at. Eibach is known for their springs, but never heard of them having shocks until recently either.

 

Did you have the stage one or the stage 2 kit and what springs did you run?? I have about 300 lbs of bumpers on my truck.

 

The only difference I know of between Stage 1 and 2 is the upper control arms added. You can adjust everything else in the package of the stage 1 to meet your needs and buy a different set of UCAs. I went with LR UCAs myself, but I got a killer deal on them, and IM4x4 didn't produce them yet.

For added weight, check out the additional springs. You can get standard, which is no weight, performance and constant (0-110 and 110-220 extra lbs).
Same for the rears. You have standard which is up to 440 lbs in back and constant which is 440+ extra in the rear.

I would avoid getting UCAs at first... see if you can get your alignment true. If you can't then go to aftermarket UCAs. That was what I did... I had my alignment decently done. I went hard wheeling and the alignment could never get back to normal. So I got the LRs and threw them on. Alignment was able to get perfect after that.
