So finally after 6 years the battery in my truck died this morning. Not too bad, 6 years and 165,000kms.

I went to Costco and got the Energizer 24F AGM battery and I was wondering if anybody else here has that battery? 5 year full warranty replacement isn't bad but I was just wondering what everyone else has.

Optima yellow top! Sold a few of those energizers when I managed napa. Never had one back in a year there if that helps.

i don't think the Tacoma alternator has the capacity to sufficiently recharge a AGM battery to keep it working at its peak amperage

That's good to know. I was looking at the Optima batteries as well, but read some reviews on them saying that their quality has dropped off in the last couple of years. Something about outsourcing to another company to make the batteries.

My original battery lasted ~7 years before it "hard crashed." I replaced it with a Advance Auto "Silver" battery, and that's been going strong the last 5 years.

When it dies, will probably head to Costco for a Interstate (lead acid) battery because it's hard to beat the price. If you have any problems with it, Costco will replace it "no questions asked."

Yeah it's hard to beat the Costco return policy. That was one of the reasons why I went there.

I'll wait until the price comes down before even considering it. Frankly my Tacoma probably won't notice the weight loss.

Curious about the projected lifespan of that battery...current lead-acid batteries are good for ~6 years. I can buy quite a few of those for what that one costs.

Except for one Interstate battery that had a fault, I've never had one die in less than 5 years. Most last ~6 years.

My X-Runner has a "Silver" level battery from Advance Auto. It's 5 1/2 years old, and I'll keep it until it hits 6 years. Very pleased with that one. I've purchased several of those (Advance Auto batteries) over the years, and all have done well. I bought Sears DieHard batteries before those, and they also did very well. I switched to AA when the Sears batteries got too expensive for my wallet...lol

The Interstate that died early was the one in my 08 TSX. I bought it from Costco, and they replaced it "no questions asked." The replacement Interstate Battery is 3 years old, and still going... No idea how long it will last, but it's hard to beat their price.
