Jbrandt, see those top 3 coils they look very odd, looks like one of the coil spacers you put between the coils to make the coil taller and how the outer edges don’t line up like the rest of coil. Just looks odd to me.

Great idea. Take that money and make sure your suspension is correct and good to go. My 02 I put 400k miles on. Take care of that truck and it will take care of you.

Yeah, I saw that too. I just wrote it off as a coil that's partially collapsed on itself (from being worn out). I don't think I've seen spacers that fit inside the coils like that.

As Taco said, I'd take it to an independant mechanic, preferable someone that specializes, or at least has experience with Toyota 4x4s. A dealer is going to be over priced, and they'll just try and sell you OEM parts. You need (ahem *want* lol) aftermarket suspension stuff...

Was still running great. Zero issues. Bought my current 2015. Here’s a pic of my 02. FB100941-A22B-4878-BF2A-4E32D3B04C24.jpg

Yes. The shackles are longer than factory shackles thus creating lift. There are much better ways to do it.

I see what your saying now. They look like all they do is dampen my springs and push them down which is probably why i don't trust taking this truck off roading yet. Rides so stiff! Maybe i should get new leaf springs and shocks for back end?

The pic I posted of my 02 is a 3/2 lift with 285/75/16 on 16x8 0 offset wheels.

285s are 33s right? I’m thinking I can just change the rear end suspension to brand new 3” and from the look of it my front end is already 3” just probably get new coil overs installed. Did you like the 0 offset?

Yes 285s are 32.7 tall. Imo the 0 offset looks good. On my 2015 I have 17x8.5 -12. Height on the 285 will depend on the aspect ratio you choose.

Doesn't look like a drop bracket from pics, looks like a 3" suspension lift + however much body lift.

I googled what a drop bracket is lol and didn’t find any mounts on my truck. I believe it is 3” 5100s in front and extended shackles rear plus 3” body lift that I’m going to get removed

Wanted to update for those who may want to see this after I've done the work and were clueless like I was.

Thanks to all these fine people at TW and some friends for help.

    Day Purchased :
    first day.jpg

After purchasing BFG 33" KM3's, Next was removing the body lift. Thanks to my girls brother for help.

In middle of work: Front end finished now to rear.

Way it sat after body lift removal: still sagging due to crappy leafs and shackles, but feel much better about the truck handling and safety

    Inkedbody lift removed with 33s_LI.jpg

Next on my list was new Leaf springs and shackles to make the handling and components the way they should be. Bought All pro Expo leaf springs & Stock height shackles from wheelers.

    old springs:

    before old springs.jpg

    old springs.jpg

    New springs in:

    new all pros.jpg

Body roll was really bad and now it is gone! Might have to get longer rear shocks due to it feeling like they bottom out with the new springs.

Camping trip to Murphys-lake alpine after all is done for now. (untill the bank account stacks up) Need to figure out my kayaks with the RTT :(

Good looking hombre! One of these days I gotta pull my 3" body lift off too. Was on it when I bought it. Maybe this summer.
You got a great looking Tacoma hermano

Highly recommend a buddy for it. My mistakes were not aligning the steering column 100% and now my steering wheels is slightly to the left, but i can live with it. Also a bolt broke in the steering column extension but came out easy with a drill.

and thanks i appreciate it :D
