If you were to cross NIN with Machinehead, Prong would come out of the vagina singing "Snap your fingers, Snap your neck."

I started as a lowly helpdesk tard, moved quickly up to server guy, graduated with physics/math, went to work as a sys admin for DoD contractor, moved over to engineering, became primary system engineer for new Top Gun Naval Range program doing fiber optic engineering for range networks, got offered more money and less commute to work for Eldorado Resorts Inc (which just bought Caesar's Entertainment), now I do all the virtualization hardware and vmware engineering bullshit.

I am a graduated grunt... or cunt. Depends on the day.

If I were to summarize my position, it would be: I use all my gained knowledge and take all my pent up anger for idiots in the tech industry, focus it, and make shitty ideas work, regardless of how stupid the requirements are. I am basically a hate compressor.

sounds like it's been an interesting path, doing virtualization must take a lot of patience too.

The Microsoft told me to just click on the link to stay up to date and avoid IRS sending me to jail.

On-Premises for VMware. Have a handful of datacenters, primary runs our vCenter appliance, with HA going to the hot site located in Denver.

We're actually going to a full Dell shop on the server hardware side. Because it's casino and gaming, there's all sorts of restrictions in place on using cloud solutions. Though, it's dependent on the gaming board at the state level. So some shit that flies in NV doesn't work out in Bumfuck Missouri. We are just finishing up a POC for VxRail to replace all the Cisco UCS eventually. Fuck everything Cisco, I swear they over-complicate shit just so they can sell certifications.

The network side is very much up in the air. From last I heard it's going to be Juniper, but there's a lot of HP Procurve and Cisco switches out there.

Cool about Cisco. Had any experience with Arista Networks? VxRail sounds neat.

Naw, I've heard people rave about them. I picked up a t-shirt with their logo, my wife wears it to sleep in, since the XL appears to be built by midgets for midgets.
