Yeah I had read the 5100's are close to stock performance. They're really only on the list because they're affordable :). The more discussion we have here, the more I'm thinking OME's full kit is the way to go for me.

King, Fox, ADS, Radflo are all linear but the valving can be changed to recreate a progressive or digressive feel.

That’s one of the benefits of a high end shock, you can change the valving to suit your needs, and you can rebuild them when they are worn as opposed to having to completely replace them when they start leaking or are old and tired. So you are buying shocks for the life of the truck, not life of the shock.

you can pay for different colors..

but not only for 60+ mph. If you want to go more than 20 on gravel, you will feel a difference. See if there are people near you that you can go on a test ride with

I have King's. Not a major off-roader, but I'm a major gear-head. I was looking at the OMEs but went King because I got them during a group buy discount and when I was researching the different options, people kept saying you "may" need UCAs with your OMEs, but you won't know till you get it to the alignment shop. I'm a do-it right the first time kind of guy as I'm the one turning the wrench. When I assumed the cost of the UCA's, the delta wasn't big enough for me to not go with the King's. The higher end stuff (King, ICON, Fox) are rebuildable as well.

To each their own. Do what you want and what your budget allows.

If the shop I ordered my OME lift kit two months ago ever gets their poop in a group and gets my lift kit in I'll try to remember to report back about handling on our northern BC terrain. It's sure not as rocky as you'll see in Colorado but it's slow and bumpy all the same.

Wait help me understand here. Are you running kings without UCA's? I kind of have the same mentality of do it right the first time, but including UCA'S on both is nearly a 1500 dollar difference , and I want a front bumper too lol

Which UCAs are you going with for that price tag?

Doesn't sound like you need external reservoirs. I run the Bilstein 6112/5160 since I don't really plan on doing crazy crawling or jumping my truck or anything like that, but I still wanted something that could handle 95% of trails out there and go fast in the desert. In your case you could go with the 6112 and B110s instead since they have more rear travel than the 5100s and you don't need the reservoir of the 5160.

same. I was romping around 2 weeks ago and my resi hose started rubbing on the tire. I did a tap to check the temp before grabbing them, expecting to have to dig out my gloves. Luke warm was all they were. I grabbed and twisted, and carried on. The resis do work well

This is what I'm looking at. Both with the OME HD leafs, SPC UCA's. The way I read his post was that OME's needed UCAS and kings did not so the price between OME with UCA is pretty negligible compared against kings without UCA's

Was looking at this too. They seem like a good in-between but I just have a bad taste with digressive shocks.

You will need UCAs with the Kings. Sorry if I confused the matter, however, with the group buy discount and the fact that they are rebuildable, I figure I can recoup that cost over the life of the truck.

EDIT: I also believe that the performance, both on-road and off, factors in huge for me. I wanted I good riding shock. I read enough reviews of the OMEs and Bilsteins to concern me. Not one negative review on the King's.

You can also take a look at Toytec. They're right down the road in Denver. I got their Boss kit and it's handled everything Colorado has thrown at it so far with ease.

I went through the same debate and ended up with the Kings, because otherwise I would always wonder what they were like and I could afford them. While my suspension is noticeably better, it’s no UTV-like feel. The things I notice the most are my 33” mud terrains and the 3” extra ground clearance.

They are a work of art as well. Really impressive machining and hard core looking. They exude quality. I suggest installing them yourself so you can really appreciate them.

Another reason I went with the King's as well. Buy once, cry once. I've "built" enough cars and houses to know when I don't do what I wanted, I end up regretting it and doing it twice. This isn't the case for everyone though. Know yourself.

Case in point, I should have bought a Cannondale Scalelpel Si last year when I bought my Scale.
