Yeah I'm just doing an FJ case, no crawl box for my pavement pounder. That is encouraging though. I got the FJC 6spd manual shift boot to seal things off. I'm hoping it will play nicely with the center console

Evening gents, trying to tackle the input shaft swap tonight. Does anyone have tips on how to remove the input shaft cover? I am trying to get mine off but there is no where to pry and it's sealed really well.

Give it a twist? Maybe tap on that elongated part I'm pointing to with a rubber mallet?

There are no alignment studs or whatever you call them, so it should help break it loose.

Lol I was saying more along the lines of him doing the fj shifter haha. I got 5.29 the same time he did and now he’s doing the fj shifter the exact same time I am again lol. It’s just funny.

got everything torn down, swapped, and put back together.. tested function and all is well. Ran out of time but I'll take it back apart and seal it up tomorrow. Do y'all see any issue using toyota FIPG? I don't have any red RTV on hand. Also noticed there was thread sealer on the bolts for the cover for the input shaft. Can I use red locktite on this or do I need to track down the sealer?

    IMG_4143.jpg

Thanks for the tips fellas! She put up a battle but I sharpened the end of a flat head screw driver and used that as a wedge

    Great minds think alike!:D

I have had this FJ sitting around for probably 6months lol. Couldn't summon the courage to split my case so I Bought a 6spd taco case yesterday off @hoverlover to use to swap input shafts so it didn't matter if I messed something up. For once everything went smoothly though

I used loctite on all the external hardware and silicone sealant around the seams and a bit inside each bolt hole. Aside from the leaks that came with the crawl box, the red rtv worked fine. It's a pain in the ass to remove once you put it on and it sealed just as good, if not better, than the (very expensive) "Right Stuff" from Permatex. Make sure both mating surfaces are clean and just let it cure before adding any oil and you should be worry-free.

I think I'm gonna get some red RTV and thread sealant tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

What would the process look like for figuring out where to cut for the shifter? Simple as lift the trans/xfer into place and Mark, remove, and drill with a hole saw. Going to happen soon, just trying to get an idea going into it. TIA!

That’s what I did full install minus the shift lever and the market directly above
And now I’m making a kydex sheet to reseal everything

ohhh I didn’t think about Kydex, I think I have some laying around. Thanks Man

what size hole did you start with? Figured a hole then dremel out little by little? Did you have to trim the bottom of the AT shifter for clearance?

Evening gents, nearly done, but I can't track down the torque specs for the 12mm bolts that hold the case together. Anyone know these get torqued to?
