More headway on the built-in cabinets. Making doors today. 1/4” maple and getting my cheap table saw set to cut the rabbets.

Nothing like getting into some 40 year old wiring...look at this spaghetti

I work with wiring everyday, but that still looks very workable, the stuff to avoid is the old cloth insulation wire that to touch is to deinsulate.

Agreed, it’s workable but I’m no electrician. If you notice, I put orange tape on the wires which connect and black on the others. They wired 3 black to one white and the other 3 whites are together ?!?

That's ok, let me tell you as an electrician if all our problems were that easy to deal with our life wouldn't be a 1/10th as bad

The switch leg as shown in that pic which was way more common 40 years ago stumps a lot of people and we end up remedying them when a homeowner trys to fix a problem and corrects the wiring and puts all the blacks together and whites together and it still doesn't work

The power flows through the black and then goes down the white to the switch and back up on the black, so basically you link the power throughout the lights in the house and then run a wire to the switch to switch that particular light

Building drawers today. Last step of this build- 2 weeks in exactly.
I didn’t have the patience to set up my table saw for finger joints so rather than buy a dado stack or a table for my router I decided to make the drawers the “easy“ way. I ended up using Brad nails because i didn’t have enough clamps for all the drawers and figured nobody would see them anyway, so there.

1/4” maple again for the base of the drawers and I need to pick out something for the face. The inside is getting satin clear and the face is getting semigloss white so it doesn’t have to be fancy but I want it durable enough. Sleep now. I’ll mount them tomorrow.

Here's a quick, simple and strong drawer box build that I use. One setup but you'll need a dado blade. Works like a charm.

I like that. I had seen that joint as well, I just couldn’t justify a $100 dado for the amount of time I’d actually use it, especially since I’m still running my cheap Kobalt job site table saw. Next project though, that will be my investment. Garage is getting full as it is. I have too many hobbies and all the tools that go with them, but not the space to house everything comfortably.

Freaking AC seemed to be running a lot for the amount of cooling tonight so I decided to check on it, coils in the air handler were dirty (looks like really old crap) so I had to try to clean it as best I could tonight, get everything dried up and then see if we have cooling again.
So far we’ve dropped 2 degrees but it’s not como for table enough to sleep and I have to get up for work in 5 hours.
Tomorrow on the way home from work I’ll get some wash-free coil cleaner and douse the sucker, see if we can get it to work better but she’s due for replacement, it’s either an 04 or 05 system, low pressure so it will be a complete AHU and outside unit replacement.
I’m tempted to go ahead and price adding 2 zone control if we get a new system so we can cool the bedrooms to 68-ish without having to cool the whole house.

Same here. Heat pump is a '99 or '00 Coleman. Working way too hard to heat/cool, goes down couple times a year, tired of getting nickled and dimed to death.

I would zip tie that drain hose to the water supply hose or the standpipe.

    Just in case. :)

We haven’t been nickled and dimed yet, it’s just a matter of time though. I’ll feel a lot better about ours whenever it gets replaced and I get filtered intakes setup.

So, the outdoor unit is early 00’s and in decent shape, the AHU however is not....
