Ohhhh, I thought it was the other way around, they made an aluminum that was a little stronger or something than normal.

This is why I ask questions

What are you looking at, another bowtie? My cousin is looking at new Ram 1500. He seems to like his Dodges even though it puked a tranny at 40k miles...

I don’t know about long term, but the inside of those new dodges sure are nice. They hit it out of the park on this redesign imo

Going camping. Got a call yesterday, apparently my reservation started yesterday.....whoops tried to extend it a day too but they are booked. Sucks. Good news is the littler ones power wheel shipped and should arrive when we get back. Took everything I had not to order her one of them Tundra ride one but ultimately she really wanted pink and I didn't feel like painting it. So ordered up an AWD Mercedes lol

No more GM's for me. A whole bunch of my buddies bought them around the same time as me and they are dropping like flies. One snapped a rod with less than 20k miles on it, and two other buddies have lost transmissions. Plus the interior still sucks on them. Even the Denalis.

Right now it's between the new RAM 1500 and an F-150. Can you tell me what is up with these stop/start motors? I really don't like the idea of that. I'm also having real trouble with a small displacement turbo.

You can always disable start stop and don't tell me this while I'm searching for a used Tahoe/Yukon for the wife. Just had her Rogue inspected for the lease return, got the all clear just needs tires, which I knew

I hope they turn out to be solid. Once the Tacoma goes I might go for a used dodge - they're nice, good engines and good transmissions.

The GM's all have this thing called active grade braking where if you are towing and you go downhill (or even not towing) it slams into a lower gear to engine brake. It is so violent I can't believe they designed it to work like that but they all do it. There is no way on earth that isn't doing damage to the transmission when you are towing. It literally slams into a lower gear so hard you better not be taking a sip of coffee when it happens. We are convinced that all the problems are due to that feature.

I'm not a fan of the auto start/stop. From what I gathered, if you get a F-150 with the button on the dash, you can jump out the button so the start stop function never actually engages, otherwise you just have to press the button every time you get in. It will only shut off under specific conditions. If the A/C is on, it's towing or the truck isn't warmed up, it won't shut off. I test drove one for a good 10 miles and it never shut off until I was just about back to the dealership. I still have a soft spot in my heart for the 5.0, it was a fun engine. I know the 2.7 ecoboost has been out for a while but I'm also not sold on the small displacement turbo engines for towing. I don't know a lot about Ferd's 3.0 Powerstroke, seems to be OK, nothing special. Sounds like GM did the best with the half ton diesels out of the big 3.

The new Ram's are nice. I know you cycle through trucks fairly frequently so you might be fine with them. I wouldn't want one long term.

You could always get a Tahoe/Yukon with the Duramax! That'd be beastly. I'm actually not sure if you can still option one that way, you used to be able to get a 2500 Suburban or Tahoe.

No but none of us tow even remotely heavy. Sled trailers are all super light, even my buddies 5 place loaded is probably 4500lbs max. My boat is around the same.

I don't like cylinder deactivation and auto start stop, so I would want to disable any of that crap. but the 5.7, hot damn. And, I like the ZF8 transmission. I'm sure this article is a circle jerk but, hey, whatever.
    https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a23367341/automatic-transmission-best-zf-eight-speed/

I would only want a SRW light duty, so they're a good fit for me. Honestly all the domestics light duty trucks are pretty good fits.
