Folks in the first gen forum were super helpful in my search for a Taco. Wondering what you all think about this second gen? Got a few frame pics from the dealership and not sure what to think. Salesperson says frame replacement hasn't been done. Doesn't look like it's been treated at first glance, either.

Any thoughts? There's some odd looking welds visible in the third picture, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

First of all, I hate you for finding that color.

Second of all, can you get pictures of the main parts of the frame as well?

Kind of a fluke, really. They posted it without noting the color. I texted for more info and found out it was timberland mica. ;) I was excited, too.

I'm going to ask them to put it up on a lift when I come to visit. She says the recall has expired (I didn't know how it worked and still don't fully understand...) so if that's true, I want the full picture of things. She was just sticking her phone underneath for some initial shots. I'm still trying to figure out what those janky welds are...

Looks like sealant, not welds, to me...

Then my ignorance of what I'm looking at is 100% confirmed! What would it be dealing?

Let’s see more photos of the frame / underneath the truck.

I know there are key areas to check for rust... I’m sure someone on TW will follow up with more details...

    Mileage ?
    Service records ?
    Clean title ?

"Serviced regularly" per ad and "clean Carfax" per salesperson

Also going to ask them to put it on a lift when I come so I can see better

She is an idiot. The Warranty Extension Period is 12 years from date of 1st use. There’s still at least 1 year left on a 2010.

If there’s no rust, and clean title with service records...
You might of just found a nice little unicorn.

Thanks everyone. Definitely going to check it out. They're asking low 17k for it. I think I can do quite a bit better than that.

One thing I did notice is the big dent in the brush guard. That something I should be concerned about? I think I would probably just take the brush guard off, honestly.

Brush guards are useless dude. They do more damage then good when involved in an accident. Take it off, and offer 14K for the truck.

Also since it has a dent in it.., check the point of impact areas...

make sure nothing is buckled or warped.

If you can get it confirmed from a dealer that the frame is still covered. I would definitely consider buying it. I have a 2010 and got my frame replaced last year. It’s practically a new truck now. And 17k seems high. Bargain with them about the frame. Id offer around 15k. Everything else seems cosmetic

Use the dent to get a cheaper price, then throw the brush guard in the trash :D

I have a 2010 sport and it’s been amazing. My only concern would be frame rust.

This is minor, but while checking the frame for rust, look at the front diff drain plug and see if it’s stripped out.

Bad news, everyone. Just found out it's a smoker's truck. Think that should deter me?
