Has anyone said, "Diff Drop Kit" yet? If you lift more than an inch I'd do the diff trop to keep your CV axles happy.

It's not very effective on 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas, 4th and 5th gen 4Runners, and FJ's. Diff drop works well for 1st gen Yacos and 3rd gen 4Runners.

What do you mean by "not effective"? I've heard that it's pretty much essential, can you elaborate a bit? Are the CV axles in these just designed for harsher angles?

Shortly after i lifted my truck 2" i started to feel the "vibration" it feels like the vibration cycles, comes and goes, more so around the 40 to 50 miles/hour. If the differential drop doesn't work for the third gens, is the replacement of the ecgs the only way to fix the vibration?

I have the same issue I drove with the original tires for a while after I installed the 2" lift and now with my new tires it still does it I only notice it on a super smooth road between 30-40 mine feels like it is on the passenger side

Get an angle finder and measure the angle of both CVs resting without the diff drop. Then install diff drop and take the same measurement on those CVs. Youll see how ineffective a diff drop is on the mentioned models.

I dunno, this before/after looks pretty effective to me:

Diff drops kits are pretty cheap, and yeah you're trading some clearance but even with it dropped I imagine your front diff sits higher than the rear pumpkin does, no?

Those aren't even the same coilovers in the two pictures, so ride height changed from one picture to the next.

I might have missed it but with the ECGS being taller than the needle bearing, how far in do you drive the ECGS?

I've been reading up on this, but everything I've read have been on earlier 3rd gens.

-Is this still an issue with 2020 model?
-Does the size of type of lift matter to create the issue?

2020s still have the drivers side needle bearing. Lifting it will most likely cause you to need the ECGS. However, many members on here stock have issues with the needle bearing. Just a design flaw. Hopefully 4th gen will eliminate the needle bearing on the drivers side.
