Did you see the Oopsie where New York released 600 Covid deaths yesterday and then later told everybody oh those are just deaths from the past few months that we finally got around to adding to the total....

 

Yep. VXX isn't a 3x or 2x leveraged ETF, but it trades like one. Which is to say it trends toward zero over a long enough time period. Anyone invested in leveraged ETFs really needs to understand beta slippage.

Was reading an article on SAlpha about shorting tech stocks because of the high prices seems over valued on the whole sector ... Dude compared it to the 90's dot com crash. However, the comments were gold ... basically people saying the world has changed and tech is used much more than the 90-early 2k. Can't link the article on my phone but it was based on the QQQ etf.

I don’t see the correlation. In those days of the internet, they had no idea what the value of anything actually was. It was a bubble driven by so many small companies soaring in valuations just because they were “tech” companies. The sector is now carried by large companies with more proven track records. I could see the correlation to biotech companies, many soaring in value because of the industry they are in, but it’s a much smaller scale so it won’t cause a bubble to burst.

 

You’re probably right, I don’t know anything about beta slippage but I’m deep in NRGU and just holding it long term. I think it’ll work out

I should start doing more research once I bail on NRGU.

If I had, I would have learned that FedEx was going to release earnings, and my gut would have been with all this Amazon and delivery stuff going on, they're killing it, so I would have bought ahead of that call. And then today I would have been up 15%.

 

That reminds me of my ups neighber ... he says it's ridiculous busy.

Well...things got red fast today...Trailing stop saved my profits on my AMD Call...second one sold @$550...bought for $407. I would have LIKED to hang on to them...but I decided zero greed on these options. Take the $$...36% return.

 

I think I’ve seen enough to know it’s a 1 or 2 day play. And like I told someone yesterday, take that 10+% and sell.

 

....and then buy back in...it's really turning into a viable day play...but it's the overnight gamble that kills you...

 

Exactly. But holding waiting for a big number is just leaving daily profits on the table. But I understand the thinking of the people looking for 10 or more a share, I just think the recovery will need to be real and obvious before it climbs like that, and you could make a good return jumping on board while it’s running up at that point.

 

I just can’t stomach selling at a loss. Ugh.
