B02A is 3.58 gears, open diff.
    W59 is the transmission.

3.58 gears, 2.7l, and 32-33” tires is going to be a fucking dog.

I mean, it’ll drive down the road, but you’re gonna struggle to hit 80. Any hint of a hill you’re gonna be in 3rd gear with the pedal to the floor.

Lol, for that money I’d just regear that 1st gen to 4.88 with lockers, rebuild and replace everything, and wheel the shit out of it

Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
I had an 85 with the 22RE in it, 5 speed, 31x10.50 tires, Stock gearing. Interstate driving just killed that 4 banger. Literally. Blew all the oil out one day. Replaced engine and sold it.

I had a 1990 with the 3.0 (V6) and a 5 speed. Stock. Not bad on the interstate but had to downshift more than I would like.

Now - 98 with the 3.4, 5 speed, stock 3.90 gears and 265/75/16 tires. Thing rips down the interstate just fine with very little shifting down into 4th.

No experience with the model you are looking at but would think that stock gearing, oversized tires and a 4 cylinder you are gonna struggle. Especially with the AC on. But - really good pickup all in all.

My misteak, 1998 was 1st production year of Tacoma TRD.
OPs is 1996 with aftermarket TRD stickers.

thanks for the good word boys. Thanks for the info. I was just looking for something small to play in but honestly it seems like I’d be better off just buying something bigger or newer. Thanks for helping me dodge an old bullet
