I honestly have no idea. I moved up here from VB and have never ever had to have it done before. It’s not a thing except in NOVA apparently. And it’s silly

It's more than just the converter. It also checks the evaporation system and the O2 sensor functions. Honestly, I've been doing it my entire driving life so it doesn't even bother me. It's a lot quicker than it used to be. And really as long as you don't have a CEL, you're fine.

Be thankful it's not as bad as CA used to be. When I wrenched, it was a 2-speed dyno test and otherwise well running vehicles would frequently fail for NOx or something similar. I used to make a killing on repair work but even they've moved away from that and just require the OBD-II only tests on newer vehicles.

And to answer @Greg's Outdoors question, the check is supposed to be comprehensive emissions like evaporative, EGR, air pump, catalyst, etc. which is why it has to run all but one monitor. You can frequently pass a tailpipe test even with several codes but generally speaking, modern OBD-II computers are good enough that they catch 95% of the failures.

When VA phased out the sniffer tests, this is what was performed. Shops were spending a lot of money to install the dynos. And then the repairs started rolling in. I was making a fortune as well. VA technically would only allow certified emissions mechanics make the repairs. It was great. The move to the plug-in and visual inspection only was after my time. I was kind of surprised the fist time. But new cars have become so sensitive to changes in emissions that a CEL would come on at the tiniest differences in emissions.

I'm still on the fence. I need to see whether the transfer skid is the same as BAMF. If so, I may pull the trigger on Mobtown.

Anyone have a photo of the Mobtown transfer skid installed?

    So question...
How exactly is the full emissions inspection conducted once it has been deemed to be in a “ready” state?

Yessir. Super fast. Just needs the ECU to be in the correct status. Should be good to go
