Who really needs a lift? When let’s be honest most people can do what they do with a stock truck

They’re new to the US and sorta ugly so likely due to those two reasons. I think he’s put 2 sets on Tacoma’s? He doesn’t work on Tacoma’s as often as he does landcruisers so I don’t think it’s necessarily a fair comparison. Distribution center is in the Oregon valley though so he likes the turnaround and the service is pretty dang good according to him

My underbody would disagree with this assessment! I've rocked the stock suspension long enough, and with everything else going on the truck, they just need a little help.

I think the green looks pretty good but the Tough Dog tan is off putting. I’ve not looked at reviews from other trucks/suvs but I’ve not found any bad ones from the few taco drivers that have them. I search people in the various FB groups and asked them as well. The Ironman fronts are rebuildable as well.

In my case, I didn’t need a lift, but because I added heavy ass AT tires, the unsprung weigh becomes more than stock strut can cope with. Basically it was really under-damped, so I added some cheap Bilsteins. Didn’t even lift or anything, still at stock height.

I would second Ironman 4x4 stage 2. I have it and love it so far. Seems to check a lot of boxes between the high dollar brands and the Billstein setups.

Have you looked into dobinsons? They offer the basic OME setup but with a softer smoother ride. I ran both on 5th gen 4runner and they rode noticeably better/ softer then the OME.

    What haven’t I changed?
Since you're in Colorado I would suggest that you give @Toytec Lifts a call or see if they're open for visits. They carry many different brands of shocks and accessories, including their own, and their sales staff can point you in the right direction for what you plan to do with your truck. They also offer a small TW forum discount, but you will need to pay sales tax if you buy anything from them.

I've let people drive my truck and have driven other member's trucks so it's definitely possible. Check out your local forum to find someone close by https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/colorado-b-s-thread.131441/

And brand name matters less than proper setup. My suspension has gone from
    stock
    OME Nitrochargers with 886 coils
    ADS 2.5s
    5100s with 886 coils
    ADS 2.5s valved to spec
    5100s with fabtech coils
Fox 2.5s valved for my truck by someone that knows Tacomas

The OME setup was better than stock for the bad roads around New Orleans but was over sprung for my truck.
The ADS setup felt way better on road than the OME did.
5100s are wildly dependent on what notch and what coils you use, again 886s were too much.
The ADS after valving for my trucks weight and use case was a night and day difference.
    Fabtech coils are trash.
The Fox coilovers have adjusters so after some playing around to get them right made my truck feel great on-road, crawling and bombing dirt roads.

At the end of the day a shock that has the right length and weight coil will outperform one that is over or under sprung. A shock that is valved/adjusted to your use case will perform better than an off the shelf one. Any one that says their Kings ride like a Caddy has never actually ridden in a Cadillac.

bingo. Cadillacs are shit ride quality compared to a lot of luxury brands. Our GX 460 rides like a dream and the rental LX 570 we had for two weeks was even smoother.

Foam cell shocks are fairly new to the US market, from what I understand. Much like Dobinsons: proven elsewhere, but haven't picked up the momentum of better-established brands just yet.

    Speaking of which...

    Yep, glad somebody mentioned 'em.

I sort of recommended them earlier, I run them in front and really enjoy them. I got a small amount of sagging up front but not nearly as bad as my OME coils. Ride is great!

I'm waiting for long-term user reviews to come out before I seriously consider them. I have no doubt they'll provide a smoother ride than dual-tube nitrogen charged shocks like OME or Dobinsons, but longevity and serviceability is more important than ride quality for my needs.

I have concerns on that too but every kit has good and bad reviews... besides Icon, I only see bad ones... With that though, the Ironman Pros are rebuildable and they sell the seal kit on the site as well, about $35. I don’t remember seeing What type of oil they are using though
