I flashed 2.0 on Sunday. Once the software is setup, the rest of the process is a breeze

When installing the OVTune's VF Tuner I get the "Error 5" message from my PC (see attached picture). I have verified I have all the appropriate administrative rights to download the software on my Windows laptop, but I still get this error every time. Has anybody else had trouble downloading the VF Tuner software? Mat says they are working on a solution but I don't know when that will be. Thanks, Travis

Glad I monitor this... Was waiting and it was definitely in my spam folder. Reported it as not spam and will be getting my ECU info soon.

Here’s a weak tip. I *think* somewhere in this thread Mat mentioned that windows as doing something weird/unique to certain folders. It wasn’t necessarily a Defender thing. There’s a quick fix if I’m remembering things right. Will see what I can find for you.

After I first installed it I got this error. I was able to click ok and everything still seemed to work. So far so good. Definitely included the screenshot when requesting the reg file but nothing was said about it so I guess it's not a big issue. Hopefully the quality doesn't upload to crappy.

So one thing I have noticed with the basic tune is I’m getting a little spark knock when I cruise at a constant low speed (30-35ish) in 5th gear (I think) and then step on the gas. Right after I hit the gas and it downshifts, I can hear a little spark knock. I did get a little spark knock with the factory tune, though not at that speed. I also get a little spark knock if I’m accelerating at full throttle. I’m going to try 89 octane to see if that gets rid of it. I’m convinced there’s no way this 3.5 can run 100% on 87 octane.

Are you sure it is actually knock? At light throttle, you can be "in-between" on the tables where the TC locks and unlocks quickly.

The only way to know for sure what it is you hear/feel is to log. I haven't followed closely enough to know if the VFtune logger is fully released/working, but the Techstream logging works well too.

It sounds like what I used to have on hot days. Stock, it used to happen when adding or getting off the throttle. With the tunes, it only happened getting off the throttle on 1.05. I will see what will happen in the heat with 2.0, but I'm expecting the best.

It was definitely top end noise.

Yeah it’s more noticeable with the 85+ degree humid days we’ve been having. I didn’t notice it at all with the cooler temps

I would recommend logging it and submitting it to the OVT zendesk email.

From being here for 3+ years the one thing that holds true is that all these trucks behave very differently. Identifying problems/issues can only be done by logging and submitting.

If you do not have a check engine light, you can assume Toyota does not think what you hear/feel is a problem.

Would submitting it to OV result in anything or should I just run 89 octane to work around it? It’s predictable when it happens but overall I still think it runs and drive 10x better than the factory tune. Isn’t 2.0 final not going to be developed any further?

If it is a legitimate problem, the only way to solve it is to submit a ticket. Mat will will likely request logs of the event to be able to determine what exactly is going on. It could be a problem specific to your truck, but without data it is only speculation.

Running a higher octane as a test is certainly something worth trying. Again, though, logging is key.

I haven’t done any logging yet. I assume that’s done with VF Tuner?

There’s a data logger that’s installed with flash manager. There’s also a logger in vf tuner

are you using the term "flash manager" and "VF Tuner" interchangeably?

When I installed the VF Tuner package, it only came with the VF Tuner and OVTune Data Logger 1.3.0... unless I'm missing something
