@cruiserguy Hey I have it put back together and torqued up. I got the bearing preload set on 12 lbs using the fish scales. Then when I put on the lock nut and torqued it, it moved the preload up to about 17 lbs. I backed it off just a touch so the preload is at 15 lbs then set the lock washer tabs.

I used a makeshift affair from a rear shock rock guard to pull out the axle. Ugly but it worked. I'm running snap ring size D which is as tight as you can go with a new axle.

    How does it look?

Those conical washer things look rather large? Unless the ones on my moms truck were replaced at some point they left the nut flush with the hub

Probably for the better since id immagine it would be less of a bitch to take off in the future

Yeah man that looks great, but I wouldn't expect any less from you:cool:
I don't know how I didn't know about different thickness snap rings??? Ooooohhh maybe that's only of you're replacing the CV axles huh? Okay that makes more sense. I do remember using a little bolt to pull the axle out to get the snap ring in place. Must not have gone too bad because no feelings of rage or anger came to me when thinking about it:D:rofl:
I love the way fresh new metal parts look on any mod, repair, build, maintenence, etc.
Especially when they're high quality parts. Just feels so......right. :Dlol

I hope I can get them out without too much effort someday in the future. The others were almost flush and had no lock washers. They were a bitch to get out.

Thanks Bud. :) From reading about this, snap ring size D is the holy grail on a new axle. I hope the other side goes like this one.
