I even had this idea, V3 ... sort of like the V2 except the exterior 3D printed.

Ended up being too expensive, even with the material reduction.

I was looking for 'been around the block' and the like, but nothing was coming up or was NSFTW.

I’m liking the sound of this. Like I said I’d get 1 pair of v1 1” (seems like it would be easier to get .5” later since you had left overs) and I’m 50/50 on a 2nd pair but to be honest my ocd is a bit out of control so I’d like to match both fronts (only initial hesitation on pair 2 is the price, it’s not cheap) but with that being said i looked at other options and I cannot go with any non contoured risers

That’s even better, 12 doesn’t seem all that bad. Let’s get rolling, even if a slow roll just so long as we can move forward

    @tonered

just to confirm bolt size/type and full or partial thread?

edit: ok I completely missed the part right above the red bold on post1. So this is the correct bolts but what about full or partial thread?

You can go with a shanked bolt. You just don't want the shank section to be longer than the spacers.

Some of the bolts that I have are shanked. Typically you don't want threads in bearing / direct contact with a shear load.

So after looking at the dimensions on that partial thread- the thread length is 21mm so the body is 29mm of a 50mm bolt. That 29 will roughly be 1 1/8” so that leaves 1/8” bigger than the spacer. You said not bigger than the spacer but is that 1/8” actually going into threads or will the seat mount bracket itself (which I’d guess be at least 1/8”) eat it up?

I’m guessing “threads in contact w/shear load” your referring to the spacer itself being the shear load. So basically it’s better to have threads only when being used basically

An 1/8in longer is probably not an issue, but I do know there are better options. Have a look at Ace Hardware. I picked some up there in the past.

Not the spacer, but just the seat rail portion. Even then, no threads in bearing is more for constant or repetitive loads. The seats will hopefully never see a loads like that. A collision.

What better options? Can you give example.

I refuse to shop anywhere that is requiring a mask so ace is out for me. I guess I’m confused by your initial reply because I thought you were saying the partial threads were better or ideal

A better option would be a bolt with a shorter shank. Myself, I wouldn't order them and find out that the shank is bottoming on the threads when there are shorter shanks readily available. Just my opinion.

Yes. A shanked bolt is better than full thread in a shear loaded application and generally good design practice. Like I said though, these will only ever be loaded in shear once. On the analytical side, the critical loads are at the floor level. Combined bending, shear, and tension. The OE bolts were only subject to shear and tension without the spacer.

With spacers, only the seat rail loads the bolt. The spacer is just along for the ride.

a stupid question but is there more to the install (besides removing rear bolts, lifting seat and installing spacer)? Basically Wondering if you have to loosen the front bolts or anything else.

No sir. Just pull the rear bolts and swap in the spacers.

The only finicky part is adjusting the position of the spacer to align with the trim piece.

I bought these used (painted) and wanted to strip and repaint before installing but I had a trip come up on short notice so I completely stripped 1 set and installed.

I made this 8hr trip almost 2 yrs ago and my lower back was killing me, I was completely uncomfortable almost immediately. Thought to myself: I’d get used to it/it was cause of the long trip/it’s new. Other than that trip most I spend driving is 5 minutes or so and occasionally 30 mins. I made a material pickup Not long ago and spent 1-1.5hr to get there and it again was uncomfortable so that’s when I first looked into these.

made this 8hr trip (in 10hrs… 2 kids) and I had no lower back problems. I was getting a little uncomfortable towards the end but I think that’s the case in any vehicle after being cooped up like that. G/f was uncomfortable the whole time in the passenger seat so I’ll be installing the other set for her when we get home, at least be ready for the next time
