I asked... The manager bragged about how he had one in his personal collection, but not for sale.

The Gold in the box was $97.99 and the Sinatra was $149.99 both the cheapest I've seen in this area.

If anyone want to me to look for specific things for price comparison let me know... And @trekker .. no they didn't have the Blaaack!

WTF is everyone drinking tonight? I've moved from Japanese to Scotch for awhile so I opened up the Glendronach 15 and had a bit while I made dinner. Breaking in my first Wok with some pork stir fry. Turned out awesome!

Initial smell is a smooth burny... Not an unpleasant one either...

On the tip of the tongue it's pretty viscous.. then thins out to a smooth sweet burny.... Low burny.. the back end is a small spike in a smokey burney that's pretty damn amazing!

I approve for my first "real" single malt scotch whisky!

Sorry my reviews are lame but that's the best I have.

Did you add a bit of water or a cube? I see a theme when I read between the lines...

    Burney. :bananadead:

Well the TW Board of Alcoholic Reviews and General BS approved the term burney / burny as a generally accepted term.

First taste was straight up to understand the whole thing... I did add a cube of ice ...
And I don't have the skills to pick out the "hint of cherry with a smidge of burnt sugar" or the smokey barley from the south of France ...

Haha I smoke cigarettes and fight fires.. my tastes aren't a reliable measure, but this appealed to me and for my first trip into single malt scotch whisky it was definitely worth it.

You all have to also remember that I'm the guy who mixes things like EC with Mountain Dew.

No worries, just giving you a hard time! I absolutely cannot describe whiskey in terms other than smokey, sweet, burney...

Some dude made it up then the next guy didn’t wanna seem like a loser so he was like ya ya and I taste hibiscus or some such poop on the backend.

Haha I see some shit on these reviews like hint of cherry and I'm thinking to myself.. this MFer is off his rocker!

I picked this one because of the whole finished in Rum Casks thing... But then I realized I don't know what rum is supposed to taste like either really. Out of the two I have .. one is made with molasses and the other is made with bananas and white sugar. So my personal experience isn't really worth a damn haha!
I'm lucky enough to be able to afford some of these bottles without much question, but I probably have a better appreciation for the spices in my cupboard than I do the whiskey in my cabinet.

It's sorta like asking a camel what wine it prefers...

Now.. with my ranting nearly over.. and on my 3rd pour of this.. I enjoy it... It's not nearly as hard to pick out the maple flavor of the JD Gold 27 because that's super forward. This bottle's viscosity is like keeping a bottle of JD in the freezer.. it's thick to start.. but it thins out if you hold it for a second.. and then there's a pleasant rise in the burney as you swallow. I can say that it doesn't make my face scrunch up or me wince! I'll also say that I could sip this straight (or with a cube o ice) but it's not as pleasant to me as a straight up EC or even the ECBP.

So.. an update on my adventure from yesterday...

I returned to pick up the 4 small bottles I ordered. I walked in the store and (forgot to mention they have a bar right at the front door where you can have a drink while you shop) and the friendly fella was like can I help you? And I said hey I'm looking for the Manage Michael.

Long story short... The dude from yesterday is NOT the manager and is actually just some shady AF employee. His location was pointed out and I met up with him without saying anything about his "title" .

Today, he's got an attitude, telling me my bottles are in the back and not checked in. I go back with him to check them out to see what they actually delivered and surprisingly, all 4 are there and correct. He then tells me that it was a mistake to order just single bottles and his store would not be doing that again for me. (Yesterday the Jack Daniels rep verified it was ok to send singles)

He takes his sweet ass time logging them in the system so I can pay for them and GTFO.

I was SO excited for this place yesterday, and turns out this MFer is just a shady fat POS...

Well you did get the bottles you wanted. Don't give up on the store because one POS. A store that big is sure to have many other employees to deal with.

Ironically, I took a Snapchat of some of the store and one of my old coworkers knows the owner personally after seeing where I was.

As a paying customer, I went in and asked some questions and yes.. I got the bottles I was after, but to get the attitude I got today.. not acceptable. Not a way to keep paying customers. I'd actually taken $500 with me to spend in the store... I ended up spending $27

Then report the dude to the owner, tell him of the lie and then the horrible attitude today. I’m sure the owner will be happy to know his customers are loyal. The guy may be crap but doesn’t mean the store or owner are shady.
