Just picked up this 2002 SV650. Completely stock with 8k miles. Carbs have been rebuilt and all fluids changed this season.

I prefer the look of the split seat but am just as happy with my 2006 single seat. Prices have gone up recently, assuming you can even find one. Most of the F4i that I see on CL and FB have high mileage and damaged plastics, and the seller still wants $3,500-$4k. I got lucky with mine. It is fully stock, mint condition with less than 5k miles. My wife bought it from my friend for $3k. He was so sad when it left his garage. He couldn't even watch; he had his wife video it on her phone. I sort of felt bad for buying it, but that feeling went away as soon as I hit 12k rpm. lol

Full disclosure....there's always a little fear when riding. Part of it I'm sure is me being a new rider. Part of it is not wanting to let my wife down and have a wreck. I swear articles about motorcycle wrecks are more prevalent....but again, that could be cause I ride now so I look for it I guess.

All of it is reenforcement to hit the parking lot and practice, and to ride like no one sees me. I always give a little nod or wave to the cars that see me at an intersection and don't cut out in front of me. What say the peanut gallery? Y'all have that little voice of fear at all??

Always. You have to ride like every car is out to kill you. I can't even begin to count the number of times someone has pulled out in front of me, cut me off, tried to merge into me, etc. Plus throw in a few butt pucker moments with unexpected loose gravel on the road etc.

when you drive a car, you see other cars on the road...when you're on the bike, I see the people inside the cars, and notice when they don't turn their head to look for me. Everyone should learn how to ride so they are more aware.

Anyone else pull in the clutch and hit the rev limiter when they pull up next to someone staring down at their phone on the road?

Agreed on all points. Practice as often as possible and expect people to do stupid, heedless and unpredictable stuff.

for sure I always get the healthy dose of mortality, I do think it is a part of what has kept me safe and alive all these years

it is not a fear of the bike or riding though, it is just the fear of that image we i see on the news all the time, that picture of a thrashed yard sale of a bike on the pavement a car in the bushes and a rider r.i.p.

my rides are typically short though also, I dont think I ever did more than 100 miles without putting a kick stand down... hopefully this starts to change in the near future though as well.

lol if i had to class myself i would say Veteran Novice Class

many a noob miles logged :hattip::bikewheelie2:

Exactly! Just since I started riding, the amount of distracted driving I see is incredible! I guess I never cared much before, but since it’s important on a bike, damn! People are like zombies.

Agreed. I’m not afraid of myself dumping the bike or whatever on my own while I ride or practice.

It’s exactly what you described in the news though. Saw 2 articles over the last few days and that’s exactly what they were. A heap of metal. That’s what freaks me out.

Seriously. That'd go for $1500 in my neck of the woods. The nostalgia tax is real over here.

to be fair though it does need a rebuild as stated and is apparently not complete.

but yea totally 100% that thing in that condition if running is easily over 1k.... the paint looks really good and minimal rust visible!!

its way too far for me though, even for 300 its a decent buy.
