If you guys are into river fishing and camping, look this guy up. His clients hold many records. He can put you on the fish. Face book River Run Guide Services, and be amazed. When we were kids, and trying figure out what we wanted to do in life, i chose the corporate life... he didnt.... i would wake up and hit the car to go to work, and i would find Polaroid pics like this clipped to my wiper blade that woukd say "you should have have went fishing last night"

If you properly budgeted you could have a cool rear bumper and not have to have that weird red thing hanging out.

    Hey all!

It's been a while since I've been around. It's been busy. Then I went on vacation to Alabama. Then busy with catching up with work again.

    IMG_4035.jpg

    Now for a serious question.

    I found this: https://westcottdesigns.net/product/fox-trd-pro-lift-kit/

It's a Fox TRD Pro Lift Kit.

I looked around the forum a bit and also found a few other places where some pro owners did this and they all love it.

I'm seriously thinking about going with this. I can keep my TRD Fox shocks and get just enough lift to fit some 33s, without any chopping or bending. Yes, I want to keep my Fox shocks. It looks like it is a fairly easy DIY install too. They say it's not a spacer lift. It looks like it pre-load the coils in the front and adds a bracket in the back.

My question(s): What do you guys think? Should I go for it?

looks like the rears are typical blocks and fronts are essentially preload spacers (taller bottom collar/seat), pic even shows spacers for the top as well. A spacer lift is a spacer lift no matter how you slice it, that being said theres gotta be a cheaper option thats easier to install.

are you happy with the ride quality and dont intend on adding any more weight? If so id go with a run of the mill spacer kit to save some cash and time on install.

Just because the spacer lift doesn't identify as a spacer lift, it's still a spacer lift. Putting the spacer below the top hat doesn't make a huge difference. You'd be better served selling your current set and buying an aftermarket set.

I love the ride right now and might add a little weight to the front. I'm probably going to put an SSO slimline bumper in the front and maybe a winch. I haven't fully decided on that yet (the winch part).

Ahhhh... It looked like a spacer lift even though they claimed it wasn't. It's been quite a while since I've modified my suspension. Decades. When I did it, it was a full replacement of shocks and leafs. I'm not familiar enough with spacers and I was kinda wondering how they said that it wasn't.

$350 isn't too bad. Are there other better or cheaper options? I don't really want to replace my Fox shocks.

There are better options and there are cheaper options but there are none that are both. It certainly depends on your usage on what is best for you. If your offroading consists mostly of mild fire roads the Wescott kit isn't a horrible option, because you aren't using a spacer with the skinny base model shocks there's less likelihood of catastrophic failure. Ask @Ch78 about his opinion of going from Pro suspension to an aftermarket setup.

It’s a small top plate and a taller collar for the bottom and a rear block. The fox setup is pretty decent and I wouldn’t want to change it either. The front looks like a good way to go but it’s going to be stiffer on the bumps. The rear would benefit from a good add a leaf rather than a block to get the same lift.

If 1.5" front and 1" rear lift is what you want and you dont want to upgrade to a better suspension then go for it. The only issues I have is with their advertising and description. The top spacer for the front driver side is to counter the lean, understandable. The lower collar replacement is still a spacer, just in a different location than a typical spacer lift, that is preloading your springs. It will likely ride a little stiffer. Even in their install video the installer calls the front lower collar a "lower spacer". The rear lift is a standard block(spacer) which is common to be used and does nothing but give lift. Thats ok, plenty of people run and are happy with a rear block. Ok back to my claims of the marketing and description. There claims of "its not a spacer lift" is less than accurate IMO and should say "Its not your typical spacer lift" which makes it hard for me to believe that "the ride quality is not compromised".

As @Silverspool and @hoarder23 said, it’s a space lift no matter what they claim. When this first came out a friend called them out on their Instagram post and they admitted it was a spacer lift. I’ll have to see if I can find the screenshot.

As Shay said, it depends on your use. If it’s fire roads, dirt roads and “overland” type stuff it’ll work just fine. If you’re gonna really wheel it, just gut it and go with 2.5’s of whichever brand you prefer. I went with Fox 2.5’s w/DSC and all the other goodies that goes with them.

A SSO hybrid and winch is gonna drop your front end about a half inch. As far as 33’s go I still had to do some cutting before I changed suspension. Probably because I changed wheels and the offset was different though.

Depending on the mileage you could get up around $1500 for it. That would cover a decent amount of a new setup.

Something to think about. I'm not in a hurry.

We need to get a beer together sometime. I know that you are close and you know more than I do.

I like to explore but there is not that much opportunity to do that in Texas. At least for a weekend. I've done overlanding before it was called that. I did it in a Subaru SW and a Toyota Pickup. I was single then. That's not really in reach here. It was when I lived in California, Colorado and Nevada.

Now, I have been more about just having fun. That is... Going out to an off-road park and seeing what my truck can do. My son has gotten into it too. I let him drive.

I guess that my point is that I'm more about wheeling it right now. Maybe I should have just gotten a Jeep.:rofl::rofl:

No! am driving a truck that is way more capable, off-road, than any other vehicle I have owned. Maybe not driven though. I probably only need better tires than the stock Goodyear Kevlar.
