I could be mistaken..was that the play where there was a blatant PI/holding against Gronk (perhaps by Luke) in full view of the ref that went unflagged?

If so I understand the comment but I will always feel not shaking hands as is customary is poor no matter who. It is the same thing I've had happen in my league and even had someone do to me as an organizer.

If the NFL has taught me anything PI is in the eye of the beholder, and not even a challenge flag can change that. ;)

Fair point but some seem pretty blatant. And again, no excuse for not shaking hands.

As a Patriots fan, I was surprised by the signing and intrigued. Seems like he has a big chip on his shoulder. The Pats literally got him for nothing. All 3 current QBs on the Roster (Newton, Stidham, Hoyer) combine for under $10 million a year. That's less per year than Alex Smith, Stafford, Tannehill, Brissett, Philip Rivers and pretty much most of starting QBs in the league. If Cam can play well, then awesome. If not, they will go with Stidham or Hoyer and most likely cut Newton.

Personally I dont give a shit if the guy wears a tutu at the podium after each game. Just perform.

I think an incentive laden vet minimum contract for Cam was a steal.. and I'm not a pats fan or anything.

It was. I’ve seen what a healthy, motivated Cam can do. That Cam is damn near unstoppable. Granted, I haven’t seen that Cam in about 5 years but he’s definitely in a motivational position if his body holds up.

Heres my prediction: Cam beats out the two NE QB scrubs because Jimmy fucking Clausen could so why not Cam Newton? Motivated, he plays through the pain with some good coaching and goes deep in the playoffs. He wins some BS Comeback Player of the Year award but Belicheat knows he’s done. Billbo opts out but some sorry-ass team like the Browns or Bucs (post-Brady experiment) give up the farm for “rejuvenated” Cam and he doesn’t make it through the first 4 games of 2021.

The timing of it seems off unless they don't think Stidham is ready for full time..or don't want him to get his ass destroyed this year.
I just don't see them making any kind of run this year if we even get a season, plus they were so close to the cap anyways before FA started.

I don't think they ever thought Stidham was going to be 100% ready this year. I remember hearing (before Brady left) that they really wanted Brady for another year because they didn't feel he was ready. The dude is only going into his 2nd year. They just couldn't make it happen with Brady because he wanted a multiyear deal with guaranteed money and the Pats did not want to commit to that.

I think they kept an eye on Cam's situation for a while. Waiting to see if his price would come down due to their salary cap situation. Cam got no other offers and he decides to go to the Pats. Pats get him on a very team friendly deal. This is most likely Cam's last chance on getting a big contract in the NFL after this season. So its seems to me he has everything to lose and the Patriots not. If that is not motivation for him then he probably should just retire now.

Also, I feel Josh McDaniels has a lot to do with the direction the offense is going. Remember he was the one who drafted Tebow and did that "RPO" offense with him. I think that is what they will do with Cam and Stidham. I also remember that they gave Lamar Jackson a serious look before the 2018 draft.

    Bengalgate...

NEW YORK (AP) — The New England Patriots have been fined $1.1 million by the NFL for inappropriately filming the Cincinnati Bengals’ sideline during a game last season. On Sunday, the league also took away a third-round pick in the 2021 draft.

    Completely unbiased reporting there .

Pats were fined more than double the cash, lost their camera crew for a season, and a third round pick. The author’s gonna cry about a sixth rounder and say the Pats are getting off easy?? C’mon. Too much COVID down time.

(This is not a statement in support of the Pats taping anyone’s sideline).

"First, this is not the team’s initial offense for roughly the same crime. (They have also been penalized for filming practices of other teams)."

2 draft picks more than 1. Money isn't an object for the darlings of the NFL, so that's no biggie. A camera crew? Okie doke, when they suiting up to play sportsball?

In the end, what are they filming that the 60,000 other people sitting in the stands can't see?

    Exactly.

Who cares about the camera crew? Those draft picks sure are nice though.
