It's a Frankenlift... 2" Eibach pro lift struts with 1/2" Toytec top-spacers and 1" diff drop. 3" total lift. Factory UCAs aligned perfectly yet, although I do still have future plans to go with aftermarket to gain some more travel. 3" Tuff Country lift blocks and Bilstein 5125 rear shocks.

 

Leveling Kit was a RevTek 427 spacer kit. 3" front and 1.5" rear blocks.

TW folks, wanted to get some input wrt Toytec Boss 2.5 Aluma series lift for a 3rd gen. I’m installing a Diamondback bedcover to have on 100% and Sliders. I’ll also put on the Diamondback/fronrunner bedrack ( when avail) and put a couple kayaks on for the weekends. Now the question.. Would the Toytec rear leafs be a better idea than the std AALs? Or go with progressive AALs? It’ll be a daily driver. Tires/wheels are 285x70x17 Wildpeaks on Icon Alloy Vector 6 17x9 w/ 4 offset.

 

So off topic question,. Why did you buy a pro when you are changing all the stuff that makes the pro a pro. Couldn't you have just gotten the sport and saved at least 15 grand, then use that for all the upgrades into the monster.

 

Hot Taco sauce, Fair question, long answer. Originally wanted the OR. Wife wanted the hood scoop, lol so the sport was viable option to be sure. The OR had options couldn’t get with the sport. With options OR MSRP WAS MID 40’s. Even found a dealer that installed most of what I wanted on an OR BUT they wanted $64k and would not deal. Found a dealer out of state that had a pro coming in. Paid deposit on it as it wasn’t already sold... then Covid showed up. Dealer gave me better deal on the pro than local dealers had for OR models. I’ll sell the pro wheels and suspension to fund some of the goodies, wife gets the scoop, she’s happy. Could have saved a little bit but it worked out in the end.

If you're not hauling or carrying a lot of static weight, the toytec aals are pretty solid.
If you don't mind the coin, the progressives are cool, if a little overkill.

I've been doing alot of reading and learning, and i have a lot more to go. But i'm curious to get this groups opinion.
I have a 2016 dblcab offroad. I have 2 deep cycle agm's, winch, steep bumper etc. i have a tent and a rack on the bed and we are frequently loaded down.

I want to go 6", but it just doesn't seem like i'd gain the benifits

I'm running 275/65/16r's, but i'm not married to them - i plan to change tires sometimes next year.

I'm sagging really bad in the ass end right now and need to do this asap.

 

6 inches is a lot of lift .... You'll need a lot of correction with driveline angles, diff drops, steering etc....

Anything over 3 inches starts to get funky due to a LOT of geometry changing.

Man, these 200 page threads are rough for a newbie. Lol.

I'm looking to do some moderate work on the suspension, just for a little off roading and off the grid camping. Got stuck the other day in some deep mud tracks, the skid plate lifted the front wheels off the ground about an inch or so. Crawl control was useless. The line I took through the mud was likely a bad choice but still, it wasn't a fun time getting out. Any suggestions for the setup I'm looking for?

 

Tires and air compressor id say.

If you're not hardcore wheeling, keep the lift relatively low, say 1 to 2 inches. That way you don't have to go nuts with big kits and changing out everything else due to geometry shifts.

 

Thanks. That's what I was thinking like 1 or 2 inches. I assume I can stay mostly stock equipment if I'm only going up less than 2 inches.

 

Yessir.

I'm looking at eibach and Toytec myself, don't need anything super extravagant, but a little helps.

Also remember, if you upgrade tires, you get half the difference in lift as well.

Stock - 31 inch
Upgrade - 32 inch

Net gain - 1/2 lift

 

Does the +30 offset of a steel wheel from the sr model interfer with lifting and clearance?
Same for after market UCA clearance?
