So, I'm an idiot and ran my tacoma about 40 miles with the air intake disconnected. Threw a code that it was too lean, found the obvious issue right away... that I had been working on the truck a week prior and stopped due to rain. Anyway... I forgot then drove 40 miles. Reattached everything and cleared the code.

Edit: Code P0171 Bank # 1 Lean Condition.

Has anyone experienced this? And did it do any major damage to your engine?

    Thanks, y'all.

Ran it without the whole air intake assembly? Or just without a filter?

Most trucks will not run without The Maf signal .

The ECM does not see the signal things the engine is nut running

I bet the OP had it disconnected right at the Air Filter so the air was being drawn through the MAF

As long as no birds or Rodents were sucked in you should be fine

Resonator, air intake hose, and PCV hose were disconnected. I think the air intake hose was still connected to the throttle body... I think. I know that is what I was cleaning and the reason for disassembling in the first place.

If it was just sucking air from your engine bay while you were driving you may be fine but don’t quote me on it...

Fingers crossed. If that were the case, the 40 mile return trip probably would have been interesting...
