2019, SR, I4, AT, 4WD. I did an oil change and went to grease the drive shaft grease fittings. I was having trouble getting the gun to stay on the zerk fitting. I dont think I was able to get the gun fitting to line up correctly with the zerk fitting because of the universal joint getting in the way. To you guys that have done this before is the fitting on my gun the one I should be using or is there a better fitting that I should get ? Thank you for ANY help with this.GreaseG.jpg

Looks correct. Most small zert fittings are the same. I could be wrong tho. May just need to rotate shaft a little one way or the other.

Jack up the rear. Spin the shaft and watch the zerk clearance. It will be in a position that allows a slightly larger clearance at some point. There are also some thin walled grease gun ends available.

I have the same tip as the OP but I grinded it down a little as if I stuck it in a pencil sharpener, now it fits great on the front driveshaft

There is a grease gun needle that pushes in the ball on the zerk fitting. I have one on my old Jeep that I have to grease with this adapter. It was just drilled slightly off not to allow the grease gun to go on. Bought it from Amazon

A lot of people don't know that u can loosen the tip of the grease gun, slide it over the zerk then tighten it down. Then when you're done, loosen it again for easy removal.

If it's not an O.D. issue...
Would loosening the zerk a little help?
Does your grease fitting have an adjustment for the 'claws' inside?

it works very well for another reason, when you grease Spicer brand u joints you need to purge all 4 end caps on the u joint to properly grease it when you tighten down the gun coupler its air tight and purges all 4 caps without totally wasting a ton of grease, before I used this method I'd only get 2-3 caps fully purged of the old grease and wasted a lot of the grease trying to.

Thank you all for the great info. After watching @BillsSR5 video i was able to get it done so thnx again Bill :) from looking at the Maintence book I am guessing that the only place with Zerk fittings is the propeller shaft. Does anyone know of anything different ? Thank you.Screen Shot 2020-07-04 at 8.03.55 PM.jpg
