Yeah mine is hacked to hell haha, too late to go back. Mine's gobbed up with a peice of rubber, some RTV, a few misc bolts, and hope.

Ok so I did this but now ABS light is on and 4wd and 4lo lights are always on. ABS light is what has me concerned though

Is the 4wd ECU the tall skinny white one to the right of the AC box?

yes, the position sensors for 4hi and 4lo feed into the skid control ECU as well, so it will turn it off.

No, it's above the glovebox you have to remove the plastic cover where the latch is and look up

Hmm well that's good to know for an ABS kill switch on the fly
Would unplugging that yield me any different result on the dash lights or how would that work?

It would do the same thing, the feedback from the ADD and 4lo position signal will be lost. The only way to make it work like stock is to splice the wires into the transfer case position switches

Alright shoot. Thanks for clarifying that! I think ill leave it alone for now and tackle the wiring when I find a 6spd FJ case. I think I asked this previously, but to get the wiring working on an AWD FJ case, I would need something to control the center diff right? Do you know what else might be involved?

Here's where the 4wd ECU is located
    upload_2020-7-2_22-46-30.jpg

As far as the AWD case, the center diff lock is done internal to the cause using the shift lever. There is a high, high lock, neutral, and low shifting pattern. There is a position switch to determine if it's locked or not, you can wire that up to the 4wd light if you wish.

So everything should function properly just bolting it up as far as high unlocked, high locked, and low locked, and wiring to the 4wd light would be optional right? if everything is mechanical, then this sounds like the bees knees

I plugged my 4wd computer back in after I did the anytime locker mod, got the 4wd and 4lo lights working, and the add switch hooked up. When I did this every time I pressed the clutch, my abs light would come on. It was weird. Disconnected the 4wd computer and everything was working like it was suppose to again.

that’s correct. The AWD case doesn’t have a 4hi switch on the case it’s. “Center diff locked” switch. You would wire that to where the existing 4hi wire was and the 4lo would be wire the same as the taco or part time fj case. The skid control needs to see those switches to be able to activate different modes of traction control, as they are different between 2wd and 4wd as well as in 4lo the traction control is disabled.

I see, that makes a lot of sense. I think that is something I could manage. I was thinking about possibly taking the gauge cluster out and removing the LED for the 4wd lights to put that issue to rest. Has anyone in here ever done that that you know of?

To my knowledge the, the cables in and put of each of the 4WD ECU plugs may be dofferent colours, but as long as you follow the pin location on each plug, you'll be fine.

Thanks. Just verified that the plugs and wires are the same on my 2013 as it is on the 08-11. I also found that I had the sensors on the wrong sides. Followed a write up on tw and it had the sensors on the wrong sides for the 4wd and 4lo which I figured out after fixing the dash lights. Dropping the case now to swap them
