    Hey all,

I bent the front of my frame getting towed off an obstacle offroading a month or so ago. The passenger side is bent out by about an inch. I'm now trying to install my coastal offroad front bumper and can't get the bottom bolts to line up. 20200702_194638.jpg

Any thoughts on how I might straighten her back out? Should I grab my tow strap and try to pull the frame back with another vehicle? Could also throw the hi lift on the and try to snug up the bolts then?

Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Depends which way you need to get the frame bent.

Think someone used a hi lift to expand the distance between the frame horns.

The passenger side needs to come back in towards the driver side. Do you think putting the hi lift on there to squeeze them together would work? Or would that tweak the driver side?

That might tweak the drivers side.

If you could find a piece of square or rectangle tubing to slide inside the drivers side a foot or more would keep it from bending.

I am guessing you can`t Weld or have the means to do so at this time.

It would be easy to cut the frame back far enough and make a new piece between the two frame rails to mount your bumper . Over the years I have done this often.

Frame shop able to pull the frame straight ?

Like was said inserting a smaller piece of tubing in each frame rail as far as possible will keep the frame from just crushing maybe as pressure is applied

I do have the means to weld, I'd just rather not cut up my frame if possible. I'm relatively new to welding and this bumper was going to be my first major project with the mig.

Would it be possible to grab a very long square tube that barely fits the ID of the frame and use that to bend it back? That way I'm leaving the driver side as it is and just affecting the passenger side. Also thoughts on putting heat into the frame to ease the process? Would this significantly weaken it?

Beat it with a sledge hammer until desired movement is achieved. Heat might be needed.

Ratchet strap will probably get the job done. Might need a little heat and couple swings of a hammer too

It is your vehicle do what makes you happy and is easy

    One really never knows .

It is quite easy to crush the unsupported frame rail

*** A thought modify or make a new right bracket to attach to the frame as it is now.

If you think using the other frame horn to yank over the work hardened frame horn, no go, it's way stronger now that it has been bent.

On my old 95 civic I hit the hitch of a truck. Needless to say I bent the radiator support. In order to straighten it back out i bolted a chain then wrapped a tree at the angle i wanted, i gave it little hits in reverse until it was straight again.

Try a chain and use another car to give little hits till its straight. Use a spotter at the frame and you at the wheel of the other car.

You see the front frame member. Hook your hi lift / come a long so that it is around the left rail at that point. This will keep the left frame rail from bending. Then crank. It will be pulling at a slight angle, but you don't seem to need to move the right rail a lot.

Got it on! Thanks for all the suggestions. Ended up using a bit of heat and bought at 12 lb sledge to beat it into submission. It's slightly dented on my passenger side, but what's a few dents in an already bent frame gonna matter?

Now onto the fun part, welding the bumper together!
