What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got the gadgets hooked up for 4-wheeling tomorrow. Scangauge II to monitor transmission fluid temp, front diff temp, coolant temp, etc...GoPro to catch any mishaps (lol) and of course the phone to display what the GoPro is seeing. Happy 4th everybody!!!

Update: Wheeling went well. Came down hard on one of the rock sliders but all good. Transmission (torque converter) temp got to 208 degrees. Hotter than either the engine oil or water temp. Was a little surprised but this is the first vehicle I have had that I monitored it so no reference.

 

The only thing I would change would be black overlays on the badges, will add some nice contrast to that awesome color. And the tailgate could use the plastic or metal black letters inside the embossed spots. Again, will look good contrasting with the body color. Looks cool to me.

Looks fine. Being steel it'll stand up to scrapes off-road. Cross-drilled hitch pin holes means you can rotate the adapter in the hitch 90 deg, which can be good for side pulls.

Yup! I decided the 997 is the right size for me with minimal nannies. Besides the 997 turbo is the last one with a manual.

I never posted that rust will occur. Not a problem especially in our area (SE US). The issue is that after a few years the paint will be a different shade where the badges were. Either take them off right after you buy your new Taco or leave them on for the long haul..either stock or blacked out. BTW, I have had 5 Toyota trucks...03' Tundra, 05' Tundra, 12' Tundra, 16' Tacoma, 20' Tacoma. I live near the coast and have a second home in PCB, FL. All were white and I never saw one spot of rust nor did I have any trouble with the paint as some TW members posted they did with the color white. Everything else I had at the coast had rust spots eventually...golf cart, bicycle, Harley, outside AC unit, etc. and, except for the AC, all were in an enclosed area. Toyotas were not.

 

Not today but, instead of paying big bucks on an OEM bed liner, I picked up a 1/2" thick 5'x7' stall mat and cut it to fit using a cardboard template. For less than $50 (Cdn) I couldn't be happier.

 

Freakin. Dope. That is a CLEAN build.
