Thanks for sharing, just bought one... It says last lifetime... is worth getting a couple of these to change out every xx amount of miles? I do a lot of desert driving.

only problem I can see with those cabin filters are reviews that claim an overwhelming plastic like smell that eminates and wont really subside, I wonder exactly what chemicals K&N uses on the filter and are they safe to breath since it encapsulates the interior cab. that would be a problem

Technically that's just the cleaning solution, the oil you add back to the filter is mineral oil. Given that you're rinsing it out after cleaning it, that shouldn't make its way into anything of yours.

the link really doesn't clarify that its just the cleaning spray and not the refresher spray its labeled as a kit 99-6000, either way I personally wouldn't feel comfortable using it since some of those chemical(irritants) may still be in the filter even after a thorough cleaning, who really knows just a lot of reviewers do complain of a persistant plastic/chemical smell that remains even after a thorough cleaning I noticed

The Amazon reviews are great, which review are you referring to?

2.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install but what a surprise when I turned ...

I'm a fan of K&N filters so I bought this for my Tacoma. It came well packaged and wrapped in a plastic bag. Easy to install but what a surprise when I turned on the blower. It has a strong chemical smell such as pesticides. I called K&N and asked for suggestions. Their statement was that they had never heard of this complaint but encouraged me to buy their filter renewal kit. For a new out-of-the-box filter? I don't think so! SO I washed it thoroughly in a 1:4 solution of Simple Green. That got rid of most of the odor. Probably need to do the wash again.

yeah its up to the individual, I've pondered getting one for years but have read similar smell reviews about them, but for that price if you want one that's a deal

I have the reusuable cabin filter. It smelled really good to me. Usually I'm fairly sensitive to chemicals.

http://kandn.com/msds/99-6000.pdf if you read this link the 1st paragraph 1.1 Identification it calls out K&N 99-0660 which is the Refresher spray as being for industrial use and is a eye irritant, and if you scroll down the PDF also says to avoid contact with skin/eyes(serious). not something I would like to breath in and this is for the k&n refresher spray which you will breath in, not the cleaner. i'll pass on it
