Been struggling for a while trying to get a crankshaft bolt off during a water pump change. Today I tried applying heat to the bolt using an inductive heater. The core of the harmonic balancer sheared off after I applied some torque using a breaker bar after applying the heat. Now I’m unable to hold the crankshaft in place.

You're prolly gonna wanna go with the bump start method for removing it.

Thanks. I tried that initially and it snapped the drive head on my 1/2” breaker bar. I’m tempted to heat it again and give it a bump.

Ahhh suck. Didn't know you already had tried.
Since you heated it enough to do that to the harmonic balancer the crank seal is getting replaced too right? If so, heart that crank pulley bolt up again nice and hot and then bump start.
Hope you get that sucker out man
