Anyone ever go anywhere fun in the Santa Cruz Mountains? The dirt road from Mt. Madonna to Summit Road is a blast, but I have to go super slow on most of it out of respect to the residents up there.

Looking on Google Maps, there seems to be a really fun network of roads up off Summit Road. Also, farther North there is Kings MTN Truck Trail and China Grade Road; both cool looking dirt roads.

Anyone interested in getting an exploration together? :burnrubber:

Im down to explore up there. As long as the roads are PreRunner friendly.
I have some family up in boulder creek. Im semi familiar with the area.

Eh maybe. Not gonna find anything "challenging" I expect. But just exploring in your own back yard can be fun.

I grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains and I've been back and forth on that road numerous times. There are lots of side trails and such but that's mostly private property off of that road and yes; there are some crazy fuckers up there..
Its a really cool drive especially when it snows :D

I was thinking of exploring on Kings Creek Truck Trail (just type it in on google maps) and then grabbing food in Boulder Creek. We could cruise up 236 to China Grade Road then...just to see if anything is out there.

I know that south of 17 there is a larger network of roads, but I have come across more sketchy people down that way.

I haven't done these roads before, so I can not say what they are like, I am basing this solely off of the Google Maps Satellite view I have been going over. Haha. So...if anyone wants to explore some most likely mild roads with me, I think I am getting a few buddies together Sunday morning. Let me know who is interested and we can pick a meeting place accordingly :)

I used to go bomb that rode on my Supermoto and in my truck, but there are some VERY angry people up there. haha. I don't blame them, I would be pissed about people speeding on my road too.

I used to live in San Jose and explored that area often, makes for a great day... take your camera. Back then (95-01) I didn't have any problems but was always respectful of peoples boundaries.

Then I went back a couple years ago after the fires to do damage assessments and ran into a lot of people that really don't want anyone around them! Granted I was in DHS/FEMA gear and nobody up there likes the "fed's" poking around. Got greeted by a shotgun more than a handful of times.

Just be respectful and when in doubt if it is a pvt road... assume it is a pvt road! There are a lot of places to hide the bodies! Wish I was up there to run with you guys, have a great time!

    Good call.

You going to do the roads south of 17 then? When were you thinking of going?

Right on, I will run it by my buddies. I know they were looking to explore some new stuff, and we all have run that road a bunch of times. They were wanting to check out more of the boulder creek area. It would be cool to meet other tacomaworld people though :)

I wanted to run that road so I could go to Boot Barn in Gilroy afterwards haha. I think that checking out boulder creek would actually be more interesting; I haven't been up that way in a long time.
