I sealed between the halves of the fire box and between the fire box and cooking chamber. Used the high temp felt stuff from a BGE. Seems the door is leaking pretty bad on this one. Will probably go back and felt it also. Door was sealed good on the combo and was hoping this one would too.

Side note: Don’t know how I got a alert from the other thread but none from your quote here. Thought the other one was this one. Lol

If I'm under 50mbps up/down I start having problems. Our phone system kills connection speeds.

Does the exhaust pipe go down to the grate? Or you going to dryer vent it?

Never did this mod before but when I place my stacks in for welding I place a 2x4 on the grate and lower the stack onto it. Then weld it and tap the 2x4 out from under it. It will smoke very good like this.

My ass puckered on the one strike. Kid got freaked out and went inside ten minutes ago. He’s the smart one.

This one doesn’t either. Was originally thinking I wouldn’t need it because I was going to get a reverse flow. Apparently they are out of stock everywhere including the local warehouse/headquarters. Believe they have some of the Highlands but not the Longhorns. Anyway, I’m going to try this one like it is and see how the ribs taste tomorrow. Chamber seems to fill up pretty good with smoke without the mod so I hope it won’t be needed on this one.

Decided this morning to just go with this one Since I had 6 racks of ribs in the fridge and I wasn’t going to smoke for 18 hours on the combo in 90 degree heat. Haha

Few years back was sitting in the sun room at my in-laws in FL during a storm. BIG boom and lighting hit a tree like 3’ from the window I was sitting by. Blew chunks out of the tree, ash floating in the air. We went inside at that point.

We used to sit at the bay door in the station watching lightning during storms. Then lightning hit the tree behind the station and we quit doing that. Hair stood up on your arms and boom. Ok, I’m going in. Lol

We got hit by lighting and it came up through the concrete under the dishwasher. Blew it up and sent tile fragments that stuck in the ceiling.

SURE you probably told the Mrs she best get in there and do the dishes. That’s from the warning shot from her.

Seriously though that’s insane and could have been worse. I think at that point I would have been like god is telling us we don’t need to live in this house anymore.

I learned a lot about lighting. They sent a team up from Houston to do the investigation. Talking with the old man he showed me picture where lighting had moved houses. His pictures were unbelievable. He new his stuff on lighting though.
