I've said it before and I'll say it again. Weather your truck was built in Texas or Mexico it was probably assemble by a Mexican.

    Or a robot.

if any1 were to spend time along the border
    or at our ports

they would be surprised the components that usa bound
    not usa made

honda & toyota have models still made in Japan predominantly
unwritten corporate pov to keep quality high
even tho they have many plants in USA

    give it a rest

Mine is made in Texas, and I have my blower motor fail on me july 2018. Took 2 months to get me a new one (toyota was in the process of redesigning it or whatever). Thank God for forum. Some glue and a zip tie fix it up enough to keep me cool during that time

Pump the brake guy first it was a joke

Second I'm very well aware of the intricacies of a global market, and production and assembly.

Not a jab at mexico or texas made.

My taco is made in mexico and I couldn't really care less.

Parts are the same supplier for both plants homie. The mexico and texas debate has been had numerous times about quality differences between the two, there isnt, same processes, parts, procedures, just different locations.

The faulty blower is actually a carry over issue from the 2nd gens too.

My 2019 DCLB SR5 was made in Texas. I am sure quality wise the Mexico trucks are fine since they are held to Toyota standards. I just wish Toyota would pass some of the labor savings on to consumers being how expensive the Tacoma is already. I am sure the price will continue to climb and Toyota will stick the extra savings in their pockets instead.

Haven't really paid attention to this stuff but what will they build at the current Texas plant instead? Just Tundra's?

I'm guessing they are gearing up for the 2022 Tundra and maybe cost savings separating the two.

    From the business wire:

" Toyota Motor will shift all production of the Tacoma midsize pickup from Texas to Mexico as it restructures its North American footprint and invests $13 billion in U.S. manufacturing operations through next year. Toyota says no U.S. jobs will be lost as a result of the change, which also includes bringing the Sequoia SUV to the San Antonio plant by 2022. The Texas plant, which also assembles the Tundra full-size pickup, has produced the Tacoma since 2010.

    Link: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/17/toy...roduction-to-mexico-as-it-invests-13b-us.html

I freely admit that I had to look up what a Sequoia was.

Great news on no jobs being lost!

Sequoia is based off the pre refresh tundra from 2007 I think, so it would make sense to produce it at the same plant in a way since the motor is the same, among other things.

I've always liked the sequoia but its independent rear suspension so meh.

Always good to hear no jobs being lost. 100%. Interesting comment on the Sequoia and its relationship to the Tundra. Of course, it makes sense to have the same platform built in the same factory. I didn't know much about it so I looked. Toyota only sold 10K Sequoias last years. I guess they are re-tooling to see if they can improve that.

The Texas vs Mexico build quality debate has been going on for years... and from what was posted in the past, the Mexico plant had more quality awards... better Mexico than China.
