Are they secured somehow?

Impressive - they look made for the space.

 

Not secured yet. Bed mat keeps them in place. I like that I can throw in back seat if and when I go to the store or if I have to transport anything big.

 

Thinkin about doing something similar. Looks great!

 

Maybe not so elegant, but functional and very inexpensive. Plano box from Home Depot, $20 on discontinue discount, bought all three they had, use one for off-road gear (shown) one for camp gear, one for photography gear. 36x18x12, fits well, and secured with an old cargo bar I had lying around. I believe the Plano boxes were worth about $30 originally. Bonus is that they have wheels and a carry handle built in. They are also water resistant, and have never leaked on me at all. I am planning on rigging up one to put up on my roof rack when on extended trips out.

 

The DS450 is on clearance at some Home Depot stores for $18.

Wow! That is an incredible price! I was just in Home Depot yesterday and didn’t see them on clearance, otherwise I would have snapped a couple up. I’m going to check out some of the other stores. The online price is $96.99.

 

Consider yourself a very lucky man, went over to the local HD store and asked about the clearance, he checked on the computer system and stated that they were not on clearance, nor, to his knowledge have ever sold for less than $69.00 in the Texas region, but that an individual store could have sold them as a return, or as a local store clearance item. Got me excited as they are very well built, and I like having the two separate boxes side by side. You definitely got a steal of a deal!

 

The Plano box from Academy Sports is $25. It is the way to go. They have wheels and a handle.

 

Not sure if this is accurate clearance pricing. The ones in my store have always been $20. Still a solid buy

 

Same box I have except in green, mine has worked great as well. I do like the Dewalt setup though!

 

I wish we had that pricing here in Texas, it's the same $97 in the store as the online price for us. I also looked online for other vendors, no one comes close that I could find. Could you provide the store number or address, maybe the HD would match it here if I could reference it.

 

Kind of lived all over, last lived in Edmonton, but was born in SK, went to college in NS and PQ, have family all over, brother and sister in BC, son and brother in AB, and another brother in SK. My parents were married in Red Deer, lived there quite a while, but also in Calgary and Medicine Hat. I’ve been in Texas for the last 27 years, and have 3 daughters here as well. I tell people that my heart is in Texas, but my soul remains Canadian. Also a big Hab fan, btw!

Yes. It isn’t going to keep anyone from stealing it, but it keeps it in place.

Not a great photo but I've had this box in 3 different trucks. I keep it chained and locked to the truck via the handles on the sides. Usually it's oriented the other way but I had to unlock one side and move it to accommodate the disposal of my buddy's old hot water heater. I think it was a little over $100. Not as good of a deal but it has a built in lock and it's proven to be water tight.

 

i went uws route for mine. its actually a tool box, but for my intended purposes ill never use it as such. its more for access storage, especially when the cab is full. throw all bags and extra stuff in there with a peace of mind that its protected from the elements. plus the j hooks latch from the inside so when its locked, youre pretty much gtg.

 

Weird, but the links all go to the HD website and show the same $96.99 price, even using a Houston address.
