Oh, yeah you can pick any engine. Maybe the Ford NA V6 would be a little underpowered but the chassis and brakes would be fine.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis but if I had to move my boat into or out of the water on a lake (so twice a year), hell I would have done that with my old Mazda 3 :p

It was jerkey unloaded, let alone with 2000# in it. Fortunately I didn't need to go that far. Picked trailer up in Northborough, turf was in Mendon, then back to my place in Hopkinton and return to Northborough.

Surge brakes suck, I have them on my boat trailer. Someday I will replace that system with an electric hydraulic actuator but it's an expensive deal.

I guess if setup and maintained they're probably fine. But i'd be going a steady 35mph on a relatively smooth road and they'd be popping off all willy nilly. Annoying.

Jeez, usually they get better when they're loaded up. I think a lot of it comes down to maintenance of the system. I don't think the Uhaul trailers get much love.

So I just made a financially irresponsible choice and bought a new truck. Tried to order one and couldn't, so settled for one that has everything I want and some stuff I don't care about. Little more expensive, but Ford's doing 0% right now which washes that.

I was being cheap when I ordered this truck and didn't option it even though it was only a $400ish option. It'd be so nice to have. The girlfriend and I drive to Buffalo quite a bit because her sister lives out there and I could go there and back on a single tank if I had the big one.

    Iconic silver.

I'll miss my lead foot gray, but I was actually tempted to order silver because it's so easy to keep looking nice. I've had silver in the past and it was never a color that I regretted (unlike the gold vehicles I've had).

Surprisingly, they were slightly above KBB "Good" trade value. Given that and the $3k private cash offer I got, I think now is the best time.

It’s doing great! I put Kouba links on the rear and will be putting in a stiffer clutch later this year (new plates while i’m in there). I was riding it a lot this year. It it started weeping oil through the clutch cover gasket. Parts came in a little bit ago, just have to get her back on her feet. I’m adding a kick start back up also. Starts and runs like a dream otherwise, couldn’t expect more from a 20 year old thumper!

The dealer's closed, but they told me they'd leave the truck parked out front so I can stop by and see it. I should be able to take it home Monday afternoon.

It was pouring so I didn't take many photos but I think the silver looks great in person.

On a side note I slept in the bed of the truck last night with the dog. Went a lot better than expected. Will need a bit thicker sleeping pad and maybe/probably a set spot for the dog - she was a little bit uneasy not having a set spot to curl up and sleep back there. Need to set up a floor mat or something a bit better and plan out the dogs bed. But otherwise I think we’re good to go! Road trip awaayyyyyyyy
