I know a lot of people are recommending Kendal in OR, but they won't budge off MSRP for me. It looks like there are some dealers in ID and UT that will discount off MSRP for a Off Road according to Car Gurus. Who is everyone working with at Kendal?

    Agreed. It’s insulting!

Back in 2008 when gas was over $4 a gallon I tried to make a deal on a Corolla. The dealership said they could sell it at msrp, but for me they’d knock off $100. NO THANKS! I ended up at a Nissan dealership and bought a new Xterra that was discounted over $8K due to the economic downfall/high gas prices. I could buy a lot of gas with that discount and it was a lot more fun to drive.

Did you go through the Costco site? Because the dealers who aren’t Costco approved flat out lie about the Costco program. Ha ha, and seemed very perturbed about you even asking about it.

Not sure what the current market is elsewhere, but I had a hard time finding the truck I wanted here in SW FL. Dealer inventory is minimal.
I lucked out and got a Quicksand DCSB TRD Off-Road 4X4 that was already on order. It’s supposed to be arriving mid-July.
I can’t remember the exact number, but I ended up getting it for right around $36k (before tax, title, etc.) with the 1.9% they’re currently offering. MSRP was just over $41k.

Posting for background. I have stated numerous times that I think the SR5 is the sweet spot for a Tacoma -- stock capabilities, good price and imminently customizable. I wanted one but there were none to be found. And, they hold their value. Look at this one in Yonkers (yes, I am in NY and yes Yonkers blows).

    https://www.westchestertoyota.com/used-Westchester-2018-Toyota-Tacoma-SR5-3TMDZ5BN3JM044134

2018 with a sales price of $30,436 and 30,000 miles. And it will probably be gone this weekend.

Hi group, I've been in Fords' for 17 years new to the Tacoma world but not Toyota. I'm curious about pricing so here's my deal.
4x4 V6 Double Cab long bed TRD Sport with Tonneau and weather mats, door seal, mud flaps already installed by Toyota
MSRP 39,722 dealer came down 2,000 Toyota 1,500 so it's 36,222 and I got a good deal on my F150.
They did all that on a dealer locate 200 miles away.

Picked up my new Tacoma yesterday -- Dealer filled it up with gas and threw in a bottle of whiskey, so there's another $50. :) 107380748_10158587205609414_641239594621_56865fd2c9ddcde2d807e3fc42d45fd2059c04c7.jpg

Too bad that full tank of gas is already paid for in the price of the truck.

I didn’t fill out the form but I did confirm they were a Costco dealer. I’ve called all over and no dealers willing to budge off MSRP and many have dealer markups (Mossy Toyota in San Diego says 4K over MSRP!). I’ll wait to buy till the stock comes up.

Value retention is typically cited as the main reason to buy a Tacoma. Well, good luck retaining any value at or above MSRP. Time will tell but I can’t imagine too many people buying used Tacomas for 80% of current MSRP in 2022.

Well here in Canada, off-road double cabs are difficult to find. I just traded my 18 sport in for one, but I have to wait a few weeks until they find one in one of three colours that I chose.
44,000k all in with a set of a duratracs.

It will still beat the ever living shit out of any other vehicle’s resale value.

I feel like that's true about the SR5. That's why it's the trim I'm looking for. It's got all the things in it I want and need most. The 3rd Gen actually has a lot of tech standard for a more basic midsize truck. You don't get all the items in the TSS system standard on Ranger. You have to upgrade to a package that comes with a pretty price tag to get it. I am trying to remember this all but I think the Base xl trim most of it wasn't available. You had to buy the XLT for any of that to be an option. The basic Ford sync was horrible. The upgrade to sync 3 was nicer but still I think Toyota seems nicer even in the SR trim than what they offer. Tacoma starts out more but options to make them similar add up fast.

The TRD trims are nice but I don't think I need much more. SR5 covers the basics and most wanted features well.

    I agree -- the SR5 has all the stuff I want/need. The TRD's don't really add anything I can't live without.
