With any luck I’ll get mine back together tomorrow. Printing a battery cover to hold a sealed battery, ignition switch relocate, and mount a 6v-12v converter right now. I had it all zip tied in there before and figured I should try to design/print something cleaner. Fingers crossed it fits and I don’t need to print a 4th revision.

Holy moly! How has it not been pumped in over 30 years? Let us know how the inspection turns out.

Yeah mine's in the middle of a lifan 140 swap. Just got distracted with other projects. End goal is to go full trail tech and 12v versus the old 6v stuff. Thought about finding front discs but.. eh, that's a new fork swap.

I don’t know but apparently it’s a thing people never touching them. I was shocked when they said it was never pumped because up north you have to pump them every 1-2 years.

Jealous. When this engine shits out the piston I’m going to go for a lifan. It’s a ‘67 and real tired.

I did a fork swap on mine to a CB160 (I think? it’s been a couple years..) front end. Super easy direct swap. Wish I would have gone with a longer travel one off a dirt bike though. They have a few models that all share the same stem.

Got out and did about 45 miles of loose gravel on the field roads. Canola sure is pretty but smells like shit.

    Happy 4th y’all.

Took a drive up to Boone, NC yesterday and went on a section of the blue ridge parkway. Can’t wait to take a motorcycle on it.

At least it's better than the throttle snapping off.

I snapped the throttle cable on my CB a few miles outside of town four-ish years ago and had to electrical tape a pair of pliers onto the stub of the cable to limp it home. Butt clincher for sure.

The biggest bitch of it was that I had a cable repair kit in my backpack too, the ones with screw on nubs, but the old cable snapped too far down for that to be of any help. Hooray old bikes I guess..

That is resourceful and clever, well done!

I can add my own story:

Years ago, I had an outside sales job for a television media company. I would drive around every day and visit local businesses to build and maintain advertising contracts.

It just so happens that my vehicle at the time was an ‘86 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. It had mismatched junkyard body panels, faded paint everywhere, and smoked like an old sea captain every time I started the engine (bad valve stem seals).

Imagine a guy in an off-the-rack business suit parking this hooptie in front of your office, as he strolls inside with his carefully practiced pitch at the tip of his tongue.

I did not succeed in sales.

Anyway, I was merging onto the highway one day in November when I went to grab second, and the clutch pedal went straight to the floor. The intermediate cable on the clutch fork had snapped.
None of the parts houses had the cable in stock, so I made my own out of a length of cable and some universal U-bolt clamps. I was doing this while laying in gravel, snow and broken glass because I couldn’t afford to have the car towed back to my house.

But, my little cable rig got me home. I did some clutch-less shifting of course, but I made it.

Just found out one of the big aftermarket Grom shops is 40 mins away. This could be bad. Already want $800 worth of parts from them.
