I wish I could say i was certain of this but im also still figuring out the minutae of options. I think youre in the clear tho since it expired exactly AT the strike price which from my interpretation means it is technically not in the money. So unless someone chose to excercise at that time, i dont think those contracts would auto excercise. And if someone did excercise, even though you wrote a covered call i dont think that means youll definitely be assigned.

Im very interested to hear the outcome of this. I dont fully understand how someone wouldnt get assigned in the scenario of options being excericsed if they are in the money in theory. I mean, all those contracts sold are owned by somebody right?

Edit:grammar corrections. Wish i had better insight to give as well

I just received the expiry notice from E-Trade. So they did indeed expire worthless and the 100 NVDA shares are still in my account. What an incredible thing to have happen. That leaves me looking for less money on the premiums and way more out of the money. I follow NVDA very closely and should have known they could easily make a 8% run to a new high in a week. lol

Even at .75 a contract it's still $75 a week. That's $3900 a year. I plan on retiring in 15 years so that's $58500 by the time I retire. If I can keep those shares for that long. That's basically a full year of retirement living for a little extra work each Monday on my end.

In other news MFA released a statement on Friday that they are reinstating their dividend at .97 a share. I'm down about $5000 on 5000 shares currently. Them reinstating that div makes that loss a wash. Plus it will help get the stock price back up in the short term. I'll keep writing covered calls on those shares until they get assigned.

I'm off to the alpine to forget about modern life for the day. Hope you guys have a great 4th.

Is $100/month too much to cough up to pay a financial advising company?

For giggles, let's say the assets total 1.3M give or take.

To me, that seems a pretty small percentage fee.

I’ll do it for half :D
That’s a small fee if it’s a good financial advisor, less than 0.1% a year. Just getting advice or is he actually managing your account?

Managing the accounts. So far pretty impressed. Wife is skeptical, but I like what I'm hearing so far.

But of course. If anything, this thread helps with that aspect.

I have endorsements from others who are completely satisfied with company, my only worry is they are not even close to being financially savvy. They are happy they are making money and have little idea if they could make more with a little risk.

100/mo for that much is nothing. Sure you can reinvest the 100 and opportunity cost etc. but at 1.3MM that’s 0.09%. I wouldn’t pay 100/mo because that’s way more than 0.09% but that’s pretty low. I wouldn’t fret, if you’re happy and comfortable with it and they’re doing a good job and you’ve done your research etc.

100/month, no other fees? You’d have to pay me more than that. That would only give me 1 hour a month to look over your account. It wouldn’t be very actively managed. When did you start working with them? How are the returns?

Most likely it’s managed in a fund. Or at least partially/majority in a fund, and the 100/mo is their fund fee. If they’re legit, at least, that’s not too bad. I mean depending on the returns and other fees that’s pretty much the cheapest option there is.

Yea, I was more referring to the person joking they’d do it for 1/2. It costs me more than 100 a month in my time to keep an eye on my portfolio. Luckily I can do it while I’m working so it doesn’t actually cost me my time. And when markets stabilize I don’t check on it often. Just add monthly

Just started with them. Will be watching closely to see if they can earn their keep.

Yep. I've got at least 5 hours a month into managing my portfolio. I'd say $100 a month is a damn good deal if they manage to beat, or at least meet, the Dow's return for the year. I personally wouldn't ever pay someone to manage mine. I'm also the type that always wrenches on my own rigs. It's not so much about the money. I could easily pay an advisor or shop to do it. It's more the pride from knowing you did it yourself and did it right.

If like to see money managers have some skin in the game.
They should earn a percentage of what they make you and share in any losses.
Haven't heard of any that work that way though.

So, markets burn down in flames this week or can we ignore the positive Covid cases if the death tolls don’t climb with them?
