I have a 2018 TRD Offroad long bed with a Snugtop Canopy. I am wondering if anyone has sold their copy or shell and regretted it later on, wishing they had not gotten rid of it. I bought the truck and canopy with the intent of doing a lot more camping and weekend trips. Seems like the times we do go places we end up not camping or sleeping in a tent with our dog.
I am thinking of selling my canopy and having an open truck bed again, would be nice for house projects and hauling mountain bikes.

I sold my rigid cap and replaced it with a Soft Topper brand. Best of both worlds! Comes on and off so easy. I can have an uncovered bed in 4 minutes and I won't blow out my back.

Definitely if you’re unsure you should store it. That being said, I took mine off and sold it, and I don’t regret it. I mountain bike and work construction so it just works better for me. I also camp and wheel every other weekend and I don’t miss it yet.

If you think are you are going to regret or miss it, keep it...better to have than not to have... Just take off when not use... there a lot of DIY camper shell storage you can do...

Thanks for the feedback. Currently I have no place to store it. If/when we move to our next house there may be more of an opportunity to store it.

Replaced a truck that had a cap with one that didn't. Took me a year to get around to getting a cap.
Three things I couldn't do for a year:
    Impromptu sleep/camp.
Carry things in the back that needed to stay dry when it was raining.
Lock things up in the back.
Yes, I regretted going a year without a cap.

Thanks, I haven't even really considered that as an option. Ill look into that if/when I decide to sell.

My wife and I mountain bike a lot and would prefer to get a tailgate pad. We have a hitch rack, but its so much easier to throw the bikes in the bed over the tailgate.

Totally. I had a fiesta before my taco and I got so tiered of having to use my bike rack; my tailgate pad is much more convenient. Don’t let that be too big of a sway for a canopy though. I have a couple friends who have canopies and still use a tailgate pad, you just need the rear window to open up. It’s a little bit more of a wiggle to get your bike in, but still way better than a rack.

I have seen that and have done that with my friends F150. It was a pain. Not the only reason to be getting rid of the camper. The wife just got a Jeep compass, their small SUV. So we have that incase we need to cart anything around that needs to stay dry and will fit back there.

aha. Sounds like you should just sell it then. Worst case scenario you buy a new better one :p:spending:

What kind of hitch rack do you have? It sounds like the rack isn't great if it is "easier to throw the bikes in the bed over the tailgate".

You'll likely sell your current one for a low price, then if/when you regret your decision, you'll spend months looking for a replacement in the correct color and end up paying more...

Guess that’s just the price you pay. But also you probably won’t sell it for very low. I sold mine for $700 and it wasn’t up up for 2 hours. I could have easily gotten $900, maybe even $1100. A friend of mine had a nicer one than mine and sold it for $1200.

Yes. I have it listed for sale. I think I will be okay selling it. The wife just got a Jeep Compass. So we do have an SUV now.

I am okay with risking that. It was nice to have the canopy. And we did use it. But if I can sell it and some one else can enjoy it more, then that’s great too.

I have mine listed for $2400, but that also includes a full camping/bed set up for the bed that is easily removable.

No regrets selling mine a couple of years ago. Had it installed a couple weeks after buying my truck back in 2011. My circumstances/life situation changed, so I found myself rarely using it other than as a place to haul my canoe. Sold it for nearly what I paid. Been very happy with a Tonneau Cover and roof rack as a replacement.

Yea that sounds fair. Mine was just a barebones canopy with locks but no keys.
