Replace thermostat housing studs?

Was doing my thermostat today and the studs and nuts are toast. No chance of unthreading the nuts, the whole stud came out.

Anyone replace these studs with bolts? What length have you used?

 

Why not get the correct studs and nuts .

unless you broke the stud you have your length

 

I have the whole thing apart on July 4, for such a simple job. Not really wanting to wait for ordering them online...

 

I'd find SS studs with the correct diameter and length and SS nut's to match and blue loctite the studs in. Aluminum is very unforgiving when it comes to having studs come out, threads tend to be removed also.

 

Finally went with penetrating oil and a little heat to get the old nuts off. Then a wire wheel to the threads and going to use my old ones I guess...seem fine now.
