So my dog busted a window chasing a cat and I need to have it replaced. It’s a double wide in remodeling. Ball park on price to replace with a quality house window?

Start by googling any serial or model #s. Then measure stuff.
Then try to find a replacement sash (Hopefully) or window.

If you’re gonna pay somebody to do the install they’ll prolly want to do measuring/ordering

    no idea on cost lol

Yeah I’ll just pay somebody. House is a 95 model that was handed down to my wife. I’d rather replace the whole thing with a double pane house window

If u get lucky enough to find a replacement sash for your specific window it will be at least double pane and identical to the rest of the windows

and you won’t have to pay a contractor to open up your wall

or are u saying the rest of the windows are single pane?

I replaced 5 windows with new double pane windows. Everything original to the house that I haven’t replaced is single pane.

Well I paid somebody to replace them. I didn’t do the work myself

I have a couple non-insulated walls on a town house. Building code doesn't require that that are insulated because they are shared walls. Even down in the basement the uncovered wall gets hot in the summer. I believe this is because the open air cavities are able to carry heat from the roof all the way down.

It's not really realistic that add foam sheets to the walls so I'm hoping that using some kind of poly urethane would work.

Has anyone added foam to CMUs?

you would still get thermal bridging through the web of the CMU as you would only have foam in the voids

Yesterday i was finishing some trim on the screen porch for the wife. Started nailing some boards and my nail gun quit. Bought this one today at Lowe’s. Not familiar with this brand but it’s what the guy recommended for someone like me. Weekend projects around the house.

For you guys that use nail guns more than me, they highly recommended using the same brand nails as the gun. Told him I was using Bostitch nails in my Porter Cable gun and he said that’s probably what ruined it. Any truth to that?

Depends. If the nail was the correct size for the gun then no. If you where trying to use 16 gauge nails in an 18 gauge gun then yes. What happened to your old gun? There's only a few ways they can fail. Usually it's the piston bumper that gets busted and causes it to lock up in the cylinder. It's a super easy fix.

16 gauge nails in a 16 gauge gun. The old one won’t fire. When you push down on a board and pull the trigger just air comes out at the trigger.

Plausible...i had a craftsman brad nailer that wouldnt feed the staples from a different brand unless i ground part of the staple head off.

As far as yours id say the piston is stuck or a nail head is jamming it up . Prob an easy fix

If air is escaping the trigger just replace it. There's two o-rings in there that cause a seal. When the trigger is pulled one o-ring slides past the firing port and allows air to go into the cylinder. That air pushes the piston which engages the firing pin which sends the nail. If one of those o-rings fails air just dumps out the trigger.

Can you manually slide the firing pin?

Senco nails work best on my Porter Cable angle gun. They seat at a consistent depth, Porter Cable nails cause jams and are inconsistent on depth.

I only use paper tape Paslode nails in my Paslode framing gun, I’ve heard Senco nails also work, but the angle is slightly different.

sounds like an internal o ring failure

I don't have as much of a horizontal problem as I do vertically. The cavities that are filled with concrete are ok it's the ones that run from the basement all the way to the roof above the second floor.

There is a sheet metal cap over the top. On a 100f day, I'm sure the air in the cavity is close to 100f.
